[QUOTE="2Chalupas"]Yes. I ordered mine from Amazon when it was $56.99 $20 credit for future game purchse effectively makes it $36.99 tax and shipping included. That made it an absolute no brainer to pre-order.ekultus
actually its 56$ + 56$ - 20$ = $92 ahahahaha u think your saving 20 but in reality u gotta buy another game which is shelling out another $56 most likely , its genius bizuness move on their part, kinda a reverse psyop cointelpro thinga ma bob

Umm. I don't think I'm saving $20. I am saving $20. I'm buying like 5 new release games in the few months, so these pre-order bonuses come in handy. I can combine them towards another new game, or I can get a couple extra older/greatest hits games essentially for free. Amazon lets you apply them to anything you want in the video games section (i.e. controllers, component cables, headset, other consoles, etc)

Hardly any special editions end up being worth it paying extra for. I've never bought one. I'd have to be a HUGE fan of something or it would have to offer some real value. For me it's almost a negative to have a special edition. Because then you just have extra junk, and an odd shaped box. I'd rather have the standard DVD/blu ray case with no extra clutter. I think the only one i wish I bought was the Demon Souls special edition. Artbook and CD soundtrack are decent add ons. Strategy guide in that game sounds like it would have been hugely helpful, and the only way to get an official printed one was with the special edition. That makes it an added value. I don't care for little plastic figurines such as what comes with batman, that type of thing usually just ends up being junk IMHO.

Bad Company 2 would be my first choice. Not only because it's a lock to be a great game, but If you get Bad Company 2 on amazon, you get a $20 credit you can use towards another game. Since it's the newest game. If you get "done" with it within a month or two, you can still sell it for a good amount on ebay and maybe even get back as much as you paid for.

Must have game IMO. I don't understand the "multiplayer only" policy. If anything I try to limit the number of multiplayer games I have at the same time. There is just too much overlap between Bad Company 2, Modern Warfare, Bad Company 1, etc. I've sold the latter two games because there's no way I need multiple online shooters at the same time. The best single player games have lasting appeal years later. Multi-player games on consoles get shut down and become worthless within 2 or 3 years.

Eh. It will be a great year. But your list is pretty bad. Bayonetta. (not my style) Sonic All-Star Racing. (looks fun and might be good for a rent, but "exited" about another cart racer? Not really. I'm more excited about ModNation which offers something new and I might want to own) Blur.(rent at best) Split/Second. (rent at best) GoW3. (YES!!!!) FFXIII (eh, I guess we're almost obligated to play Final Fantasy) Borderlands DLCs.(haven't even played the game) RE5: Gold Edition. (excited, but only because I"m a huge RE fan since PS1 days. I had every RE game on PS1,PS2, and gamecube. I've been waiting for this version to finally play RE5 at all.) Yakuza 3.(this looks borderline terrible. a few niche people will love it I'm sure) KH: Birth by Sleep. (never heard of it, don't have PSP) Super Street Fighter IV. (marginally interested, but again only because I didn't bother picking up IV when I got my PS3) God of War, Heavy Rain, and ModNation racers I expect to all be absolute gems as far as exclusives go. The other possible masterpiece I'm hoping finds a way into 2010 is The Last Guardian. My interest has been peaked despite never playing the Team Ico PS2 games. So even if we don't get Last Guardian in 2010, I am hoping we at least get a release of Team Ico games remastered just like God of War Collection. You also left off quite a few killer games. I think every single one of these games I'd put ahead of those on your list (besides God of War III) Red Dead Redemption Bad Company 2 Gran Turismo V (since you like racers, HOW could you have left this off!!!???) F1 game from Codemasters Fallout: New Vegas Castlevania: Lords of Shadow (PS2 Castlevania mostly sucked, but this one I have high hopes for) Agent L.A Noire Crysis 2 There's probably others. I for one am excited at the idea of PS3 tennis and golf with the Sonymotion controls (i.e. Grand Slam Tennis, and Tiger Woods Golf). Those are great on Wii so as long as they don't screw it up should be even better on PS3.

I haven't compared them directly. But I remember thinking that Dante's Inferno looked more like a PS2 game (at least the demo did). Remember that both God of War releases were among the best looking PS2 games ever, so with it being upscaled to HD it can "almost" pass as a true next gen title. Despite how nice it looked for a PS2 game, even in the remaster there are definitely enough flaws that make you realize it's "last gen". So I will guess that Dante's would easily have an edge over the collection. I'm guessing God of War III will blow it away though because to me at least, Dante's looked pretty average for a PS3 game.

I pretty much don't buy within the first months of release, UNLESS I have it pre-ordered and there is some kind of deal on the pre-order. If there is no deal I will usually wait for a game to become cheap after about a year or so on the market. Most of my PS3 games I've gotten for less than $30. I wait either for a special sale, or black friday type deal (or gamesl like Bioshock and Dead Space by the time I picked up my PS3 their regular prices were already $19.99 or less).

Bad Company 2 = $20 credit effectively makes game $36.99 (my pre-order was 56.99, now it's 59.99)

Madden 11 = $20 credit effecitvely makes game $39.99

God of War 3 = $10 credit to make it $46.99

Very few games I will get with no special pre-order discount.

Gran Turismo 5 I am hoping for a discount, but have it pre-ordered regardless. If there is a "must have on Day 1", this is probably it for me.

3D Dot Game Heroes I am giving a chance because the regular price is pretty resonable ($36.99)

I rented MAG and haven't even bought it yet, so I feel I can give an unbiased review. MAG is miles better than Bad Company 1, and more than holds it's own against Modern Warfare 2. The 256 player maps are hardly a gimmick, it literally makes the game.

Graphically it is a notch below Modern Warfare. But Modern Warfare also sacrifices alot of animations in it's multilayer (compared to it's single player). If you compare multiplayer vs. multiplayer the graphics are much closer. Also of course you have to factor in there are more than 10 times the # of players in MAG. 256 player vs. 18 players. As far as "not having enough maps", how many do you think Bad Company 2 will have??? About 5 or 6 probably. In other words, about the same.

In the end MAG is a great game. I would say the PC version of Bad Company 2 will be MILES better (unfortunately my PC sucks at the moment). But on console it's not so clear. On the one hand you have the destructible environments and better vehicle/combat controls of Bad Company. On the other hand it's 256 players vs. 24 players. On console there are times in Bad Company where the maps feel a little "empty" due to the combination of map scale and the # of players. That almost never happened in MAG. I am sticking with m Bad Company 2 pre-order because of the $20 credit from Amazon. However, I'm pretty sure when I'm done with that game I'll be trading it in for MAG. MAG is a great PS3 shooter.
