I think It would take time... The resolution is a lot lower on the ps2, probably 480i or something. They would probably have to smooth everything out in the whole game. Just my thoughts...yentlequible

The art might have been created as higher resolution on a CGI workstation, and then downsampled/compressed to fit on the PS2 disc. If the source material was saved somewhere at it's true resolution then they wouldn't really have to do any "processing" to update the graphics. They would just need to replace the lower resolution art with a higher resolution source.

At least that's the way I think it would work. Obviously they might not always have highe resolution source material, and then they would need to do some work on it (and possibly have all the textrues redrawn).

I do know that it is a PS3 game, not an "emulation". Hopefully there will be a few more similar "remasters" on the way. I'm jealous that XBOX is getting a remake of Perfect Dark from the Nintendo 64.

Ummm. You just named a bunch of SHOOTERS. It's kind of hard for a war based shooter to be anything but violent. Little Big Planet = not violent. Ratchet and Clank = only "cartoon" shooting, not exactly violent. How is Fifa violent??? Obviously kiddy games are not violent. If the game is rated M like the games you mention probably are, odds are it will be violent, have curse words, etc...

It hasn't lost it's appeal in a game like Bad Company 2, or the idea of racing Grand Turismo online. I just don't that now it seems almost EVERY game has to have multi-player. You would think by putting the time in for multiplayer, Developers are just taking resources away that could have gone into improving the single player game. Look at a game like Bioshock? Why bother with multiplayer? Just seems like a waste. Even Uncharted 2 I haven't ever played the multiplayer. It might be good, I just haven't bothered with it. Thankfully in those two games the single player campaign's did not suffer.

Why not just play it on your PC??? A game like this basically any computer alive today can run easily. So might as well play quake the way it way it was meant to be played.

I've noticed it in 2 games. Uncharted 1. Assassin's Creed 2. (especially when the camera scrolls during the cutscenes, it gets really bad). Screen tearing is prevalent on lots of XBOX games as well of course. It really has nothing to do with the PS3 itself, and more to do with the programming. No idea how the Assassin's Creed 2 holds up in comparison but there is lots of screen tearing on the PS3 version.

SSX was one of my favorite PS2 games. I saw this in a bargain bin and figured at $9.99 Shawn White might be worth a shot (I guess the winter olympics going on put the idea of snowboarding/skiing on my mind). Since this was the only option I was willing to give it a whirl. It's snowboarding, it's on PS3, HOW BAD CAN IT BE????

Well. I've spent the first 30 minutes of this game trying to collect a "coin" that is hovering just out of reach on top of a shed. I keep sliding off the roof before I can get to the peak to get it. Ok. Hell with it. Moving on. Next. I enter a race where I guess the point is to run over a bunch of little guitar icons laid out on the track in front of me. Even though they are right there in front me me, my guy doesn't make the jump. I keep falling just below the track out of bounds. I can't even get back UP on the track even though I can see the icons right there just out of reach. Because I can't collect all the little guitars I keep getting "disqualified" from the race.

I'm sure it's not that hard if I keep going. But seriously, who the hell came up with this retarded crap? This is probably the worst purchase I've made for the PS3. I've had good luck out of bargain bin in the past (Bioshock, Dead Space, Quantum of Solace, even Bionic Commando). But Shaun White snowboarding = hot garbage.

Just thought I'd vent. Please EA. Make an SSX game on PS3, and don't let it suck.

Both option 1 and option 2. Do # 1 for just the "key titles". Maybe #2 available as well, and perhaps broaden the range of releases beyond what you could justtify for a print run (obviously not every game is deserving of the same treatment as the God of War collection).

sad, i was planning to get this game next game...but review is only 8.5, and i dont pay full price for any games under 9.0, so I guess I will wait for discount price or rent it

oajlu
This is so stupid. I sometimes check reviews to see if a game is "worth playing". But it's awfully silly to draw the line on a 9.0. Particularly considering the decision to score a 8.5 vs. some other "grade" is basically just one person's opinion. I didn't want to purchase this game because I figured it's 8-10 hours and I'd only be playing it a few times to take the story from a few different angles (so that sets it up as a perfect rental). But if you were PLANNING to get this game, don't let a single (excellent) review stop you. Heck the average reviews on this game is 9.0 so far from both readers and writers, so even by that criteria it should still qualify.

Yawn. Who cares. Half Life and Counter Strike I will always consider PC titles. Two of my favorites ever. I'm pretty sure by the time Half Life Episode 3 comes out that the current consoles will be running well behind the PC version. So assuming I planned on getting that on my PC, what the hell do they have to offer me on the PS3 to play in my living room? Probably nothing.
