Consoles will never die: they have a bigger market share than all of PC gaming combined. The need for a standardized platform for development allows game developers to fully use a console without the bugs, restrictions, OS limitations and hardware complexities brought forth by the ever-changing PC platform.

I always thought the God of War series was the closest thing to the Zelda franchise that Sony has. It has action adventure, "mild" platforming, puzzles, epic boss fights, multiple weapons and tools to traverse territory... Aside from the obvious differences (Zelda is more free-roaming, God of War more linear), both are considered the peaks of the action adventure genre.

Yet another nail (amidst the fully penetrated coffin) of the PSP... Now there really is absolutely no reason to own a PSP whatsoever, when you can now enjoy its exclusives in HD glory on the home console itself. I like it!

Final Fantasy XIII to me will remain a very mixed bag: doing some things wonderfully, failing hard in others. The story itself was interesting, possibly among the best premises that can setup a very large, rich mythological world of deities, monsters and humans. The execution and storytelling was very poor, however, so I was left feeling disconnected through the majority of the game. The battle system is quite possibly the best FF battle system I have witnessed to date (FFXII was my second favourite battle system). This aspect alone allowed me to enjoy the latter half of the game extensively (Once you've been given more freedom). While you may control only 1 character at a time, once you begin hunting down fiends in the monster quest segment of the game, trying to get 5-star ratings, it quickly becomes a very strategic, dynamic and freeflowing system that requires equal amounts of clever thinking, swift adaptation to changing environmental combat factors and fast reflexes. Music was pretty good coming from the people who brought you FFX's soundtrack: it was neither weak nor very memorable unlike Nobuo Uematsu's music legacy and contribution to the FF brand. All in all, a solid 8.5 in my book (which is what GS awarded it).

I see Shadow of the Colossus...but no ICO. The list is pretty good however: there's bound to be a few gems here and there they could not include on the list due to space limitations.

[QUOTE="Brainhunter"]I'll get a 3DS when the Super Mario 3DS and Mario Kart 3DS games are released: undoubtedly these should have been developed early on and released at launch. Watch both score AAA (little doubt about it): that's when the 3DS will catapult itself forward. Why didn't Nintendo prepare at least a high-budget, First Party Mario game at release, like they did with their Super Mario 64 DS?i3DS

Because they stated they want a chance for third party titles to have a strong start on the 3DS.

Nintendo isn't exactly known for its strong third party support: on current handhelds, it's a different story however. Yet they should have capitalized on their powerful first-party resources to popularize and market the 3DS. Didn't they learn anything from the DS? Release strong Nintendo first-party titles, and the third-party flock will follow to capitalize on its success.

Portal 2 is a multiplatform game that has garnered critical acclaim across magazines and websites, very well optimized among all platforms (aside from obvious PC advantages ie higher resolutions, AA, AF, etc.). Runs great on consoles, has intelligent puzzles, enjoyable gameplay, entertaining story and funny humour. There is hardly anything to argue about it, which is the life and essence of GS System Wars.

I don't know anyone who's ever said SC2's visuals are outdated: if anything, it has the nicest visuals among RTSs next to Shogun 2.
