I enjoyed it. It's got charm that reminds me almost of a Tim Burton movie. Each level is rated on a three star system much like Angry Birds so there's a reason to go back and try again. Also, they just added Bakuki's Lair DLC for free, plus there's apparently more planned in the future. I think it's worth it.

I was really disappointed when the PS3 dropped BC. This just seemed like Sony trying to get more money out of customers by having them purchase a PS2. I know they needed to save costs, but come on. I have a PS2 now, but when the PS3 was just coming out I didn't (I've had about 3 PS2s total), so by the time I had the money for the PS3 they took away the BC when I still had some games and my memory card. It ended up being a deciding factor in whether I would purchase one. I figured since Sony gave the PS2 BC with PS1 games, why not keep it with the PS3 for all other PS1/2 games?

I just recently got a 360 and I'm happy with it. I really wanted a PS3, but I just can't afford $400. Plus, I'm noticing a trend of weakness in PS3 multiplats.

I have issues with the co-op settings that don't allow an offline second player to do anything with Sheva's inventory insofar as upgrading or selling, otherwise a fun and tough game to beat.

I agree with the above...this is about where GH games should be rated. It was a cute concept for the first three or so games but now it feels like milking, especially with Aerosmith and the Metallica ones.

The PS2 should have had a price drop at least two years ago or more right around the end of the last gen. Sony milked it to hold the black hole that the PS3 initially was. Dropping the price now almost feels like a smack in the face.

[QUOTE="saiftk"]

I'm trying not to be a fanboy. But was it arrogance? bad research? delays? overconfidence? bad decision making?

You can't say they made the right choice cause they're losing. They would have had the head start in the HDDVD battle and won earlier. Plus, they would have been head to head with the 360 or outselling it.

I think they would have given the Wii some competition as well. Did they just drop the ball? How can a company make such a bad decision/

UnnDunn

There were delays related primarily to Blu-ray laser diode yields and also because the software (ie. games)wasn't ready.

Yes I also recall Sony is notorious for being a pain in the rear about getting the developers kits out to get things moving. They did the same thing with the PS2 in which developers had much difficulty with it until Sony gave them the kits. The same thing happened with the PS3

I imagine a lot of things went wrong. Sony had their grand plan for 10 years on the PS2 (which they are still sticking by) and I assume figured they could take their time developing the PS3. I vaguely recall problems with the diodes, drives, and other things that didn't hideously slow them down. I also seem to recall something about trying to have one Cell processor for the main processor and a separate one for graphics. Not sure if any of this delayed things. I think a bit of overconfidence messed them up. They thought they could wait it out and when the 360 hit they realized they waited too long.

Nostalgia is a wonderful thing isn't it? It makes you remember events and things better than they actually were. I've played and beaten virtually every single Resident Evil there is. I'm playing (with a friend) RE5 and beat RE4 for the third time rapid fire. I then went and played a little Code Veronica and forgot how clunky the old games were. Yeah they were great. The camera angles (for all their lameness), limited ammo, and eerie music and setting provide for great horror, but they were so difficult to play at times they were frustrating. Keeping that in mind, comparing the old games to the most recent two, isn't having a crapload of enemies poured out at you with a viewing angle that prevents you from seeing behind yourself and enemies that have very human-like intelligence still survival horror? I really enjoy the last two games. The Las Plagas enemies provide a different type of challenge. When one of their heads burst open and reveals something downright gruesome, I still think survival horror.
