@bigfootpart2: Your point? Are you implying that an actual US resistance to an actual tyrannical government wouldn't somehow get their hands on heavier armaments and equipment, or that a bulk of the Military (hell, even a portion) wouldn't join the People? So... if a government is tyrannical, we just give up our means to self-defense because... because, why? Just bend over and take it? I'd rather die fighting. Countless will die. It's war. The objective in a full-scale resistance isn't for any particular individual to survive, it's for the People as a whole to fight back and survive, and the Constitution to be reinstated. If you assume there won't be sacrifices when the shit hits the fan in the form of the 2nd American Civil War, you're delusional.
I don't understand this argument that we wouldn't be able to fight back against a tyrannical government because our armaments wouldn't suffice. It sounds utterly defeatist, because it is utterly defeatist. Almost as if people don't want to think about the horrible possibility of this happening... so lets jam our heads deep up our cavernous assholes, give up our means to self-defense and hope all the baaaad things just go away.
@PraetorianMan:
You: You have an amazingly narrow and inarticulate view of how guerilla warfare works.
Me: No, I don’t.
You: A guerilla force armed only with rifles will accomplish almost nothing. ALL successful guerilla operations have had at least some type of heavy weapons and equipment at disposal; automatic weapons, anti-vehicle ordinance, exposives, etc.
Me: We could get our hands on the necessary equipment. It wouldn’t be difficult to get our hands on these after the bullets start flying. Wars are very chaotic. Not to mention the US Military would more than likely side with the people.
You: All of these things are ALREADY regulated and restricted in pretty much every state in the country. The 2nd amendment currently serves literally 0 function as a "protection against the government" measure.
Me: Yes, those things are hard to get, and rightfully so in a time of peace when a civil war isn’t tearing the country apart. You are wrong about the 2nd amendment not providing a means to fight back. Bullets still kill people, regardless of who you are fighting. Also, IEDs are a thing… and they’re very effective.
Listen, we’re clearly not going to get anywhere here. Let’s just agree to disagree.
@bigfootpart2: National Guard isn't a militia. 2nd amendment is for personal use. Assault rifle isn't even a real category of firearm.
@N30F3N1X: It's exhausting. It's all emotion based, 'you don't care about the children' nonsense. Who the hell makes serious life choices in a time of emotional distress? No one intelligent. So why would we do it as a country. It's fucking ridiculous.
Not a huge fan of the guy, but people claiming he didn't win fairly are just butthurt. He did. Deal with it. Russian didn't collude with him and the electoral college was only complained about by Democrats because they lost. They whined when Bush won too, who I would argue was a lot worse than Trump.
@davillain-: I'll probably see it when it hits Netflix or something. Looks alright, though all the critics claiming this is the coming of Jesus or some such nonsense is a bit over much. It's a damn super hero movie for Christ sake. Though I will admit that the black panther suit looks cooler than any of the other hero costume in the MCU.
