Always enjoy reading Kevin's reviews, much like reading a good book.

@swampkid84 @pupp3t_mast3r Ok let me start with "No and no farming required whatsoever". My whole argument should be taken in context with the original Plants vs Zombies game, the one released before PopCap was bought out by EA.

With the original you had access to all the levels for a fixed price and the game actually introduced you to a well developed difficulty curve. Eased into various unique game mechanics and took it's time with letting you figure out your own strategies but gradually showing you each plant's strength and weaknesses.

Plants vs Zombies 2 does none of that, the difficulty curve is completely erratic unless you pay for all the levels. If you don't wish to pay you have to "farm" your stars by repeating levels you've already completed. Initially the difficulty increases with each completion seem a bit steep but fair. But if you kept with the game the difficulty jumps become erratic with some levels being outright impossible with the limitations the game forces on you, meaning you have to use the new "god power" mechanics to even the odds. This throws out the difficulty curve, and by making you play levels that increasingly decrease your ability to strategize and try out your own tactics it forces you into fixed solutions for every level.

Plants vs Zombies 2 pays homage to the original only in the sense that it's under the skin of "Plants vs Zombies". The game looks the same but at it's core plays very differently. The tweaks made to the games mechanics rather than improving the overall experience only serve to undermine it with this sequel. And it's clear to see why, rather than offering customers a means of just paying once for a game they opted towards having the potential to charging them as many as times as possible. Before going ballistic note that I used the word "potential".

I should also point you towards another tower defense game that has micro-transactions and a fixed price which I absolutely adore and would gladly pay even $20 for the next iteration in their IP. Kindom Rush.

@BIOJECT They did, they released Hitman and Tomb Raider. They're redefining the genre by completely throwing out what it means.... No matter if they lose fans along the way.

Lol well you predicted the future pretty well. I guess that really did hurt the 5.2million units sold in the last two months.

But I guess I shouldn't expect much from a company that has rebranded itself as the game publishers who create on average 5 different versions of the exact same game.

Is it just me or do reviews on gamespot seem awfully biased lately, a lot of the new games have bugs and issues unaccounted for.

Heck at this point in time I just scroll down to the comments to get an opinion of the game as opposed to actually reading the review these days.

At the risk of sounding elitist how could this reviewer have played Pokemon obsessively and not know about EV's and IV's? Super training only brought these stats to the surface but they've existed in all the past generations of pokemon games for serious competitive trainers to take advantage of.

Well Telltale's dropped a few notches in my book, where I first bought the whole season 1 from the get go since the whole fiasco with the Wolf Among Us I'm giving their games a wide berth until their released in their entirety and go on special.

You don't promise a release every 4-6 weeks and then go quiet for over 8 weeks without any updates for people who bought the season.

@Cypress131 @PlatinumPaladin You see requests from support teams and devs like this on the WoW forums all the time as well, especially after large patches go live. It's just part of the growing pains of any online game.

That said I'm not a big fan of EA and after the debacle with the Sims I can see why people are losing patience.
