Mafia, gosh the characters, the story, the gameplay(post race nerf), were fantastic. Can't tell you how many times i went back and played the bank, boat levels.
Halo. I've played much better multiplayer in Counter Strike, CoD4, TF2, etc. and I've played much better single player in Doom 3, Half Life 2, CoD4, and Bioshock. Why it got the score it did is one of the biggest unsolved mysteries for me.

I had gotten more enjoyment out of F.E.A.R. for gunplay. For me personally if you've never played Half-Life you're missing out on probably one of the best FPS stories...so far anyway....as it hasn't been finished. But if you're dead set on Bioshock or F.E.A.R. strictly for story alone go with Bioshock I really enjoyed the ending.
