Hey im looking into three main shooters for good storys

Bioshock

Fear

Crysis

they all run fine on my PC , tried them all on a demo but crysis on the highest resolution i had to have everything on low, if I turn down the res can i put it higher and be smooth ?

anyways which of the three have the best story overall. Im kind of looking for something suspencefull and scary so FEAR and Bioshock seem to fill those but crysis i dont know much about,

Anyways what has the BEST story overall and will make me jump out of my seat and go "OH MY WORD THAT WAS SCARY!" : )

Fear runs amazing and Bioshock runs great at 1024 res

THANKS

If you want story then F.E.A.R. and Bioshock
Crysis ends when the story gets interesting and will probably dissappoint you on that part.

ya, I never actually finished Crysis becuz the story started to suck so much...but before the zero-g sequence, i have to say that the whole first few hours are some of my favorite in gaming EVER.

Bioshock had probably the best story out of all of those, but FEAR was scarier; hard to say which was better.

and BTW, i really think that you should sacrifice the resolution for the higher graphics settings - Crysis running at 800x600 on HIGH looks SO MUCH, SO MUCH BETTER than 2650x1200 on Low. The game looks relatively HORRIBLE on low, and i can't reccommend anyone to run it on anything besides the highest graphics settings it can go.

And to avoid having to turn the res so high to get it to look smooth, just turn on anti-aliasing. Even just times 2 looks very good, and smooths out a lot (but not everything). If you would list your specs I could easily tell whether or not you could run the game on high settings at a decent res.

Fear gets my vote. It has quite a story, and is the best shooting game of the three.

I like other way around

I love big resolutions, and i think that Crysis on low + 1680 x 1050 (max my pc could play @ that time) was really good looking

Certainly bether than some other games out there

a 3200? no wonder. Keep it on low. If you turn it to high, it'll run like crap.

Half Life 2 series

Bioshock

Stalker (not really story, but setting)

guess that is it, most others are just missions of killing hordes of baddies and then the main baddy or big thing.

Deus Ex 1 as well.

From that list definitely Bioshock. It has the highest cinematic quality out of all of those. There are a few narrative techniques from System Shock 2 used like the tapes but the characterisation through the excellent voice acting and the writing as well, elevate it.

I never played FEAR but Bioshock was amazing. I don't really know what you mean by boss battles but there are a lot of intense battles in Bioshock through the whole game. It also has a really erie feeling to it which can be really captavating at times. You can also upgrade your weapons and abilites. I would go with definitly go with Bioshock.

F.E.A.R has my vote, hands down. The 2 exspansions they released weren't great by any means. But fear is def epic.

Dead Space, Animated Comics, Movie, etc. Huge storyline behind the game.

It's a third person shooter so don't expect it to be like FEAR, Crysis, or Bioshock in terms of gameplay.

Either one will provide you with lots of action.

Though Bioshock has far more diversity in its environments. There is also a bit more replay value if you want to try out the various powers, go back and find pieces of the story, or see the alternative ending.

Bioshock and FEAR

Crysis really has no story. Its like a cheesy action movie.

Take a look at Fallout 3. More RPG than 1st person shooter, but still good

Of those I'd have to say Bioshock has the best story. There are other shooters with better story lines, Max Payne for example.

System Shock 2 - for atmosphere (maybe stalker too)

Crysis - for action and graphics

F.E.A.R - for challanging AI

There is no doubt that Bioshock has the best story, not only it is well written and the voice acting is fantastic, the whole game is a "living" piece of art, sometimes it gets scary some times it's funny, sarcastic or creepy. But if you are looking for a excellent horror shooter F.E.A.R is the best you will jump out of your chair very often, and the A.I. of the enemy is one of the best I have ever seen in a game.

I hope it will help in your decision.

I had gotten more enjoyment out of F.E.A.R. for gunplay. For me personally if you've never played Half-Life you're missing out on probably one of the best FPS stories...so far anyway....as it hasn't been finished. But if you're dead set on Bioshock or F.E.A.R. strictly for story alone go with Bioshock I really enjoyed the ending.

In F.E.A.R, if I am not mistaken, you can slow time, kick (normal kick, jump kick, run and do a slide kick) and also do it on slow time, upgrade your health and slow time motion bar by picking this upgrades in hidden places in the game, so you can explore a bit more than the linear part.

F.E.A.R. Has also two expansions the first Extraction Point is still ok and really scary, but the second one Perseus Mandate, well personally speaking wasn't so good, and Monolith with F.E.A.R.2: Origin ignores completely those two expansions, like they never happened in the story, so I think of them as Mods.

Both Bioshock and F.E.A.R (the original one) are just great and you will not be disappointed buy any of them.

Good luck!
