for a pretty good action war game u could try Far Cry 2 but if u want older try the first Far Cry, Freedom Fighters, Max Payne, there all probably cheap

Crysis rocks! Good game, but it is part modern warfare and part sci fi action, it's a good mix really. The multiplayer is kind of non-existant unless you buy Crysis Warhead which includes Crysis Wars as a stand alone multiplayer component, which is quite popular, and very good.
L4D, Crysis, STALKER, Orange box There are others you might like but to be honest if you're not really looking forward to one in particular look for older games ass there are loads of good value FPSs around. Unless you really want multiplayer (in which case go for something by Valve) then a good old game will do fine something like FEAR or the original STALKER, Rainbow 6: Vegas...

Crysis Wars is quite goood and nice and refreshing if you play alot of shooters online. Though Warhead ain't great,. The original Crysis has awesome single player, my favorite shooter because the adaptive AI allows for so many different tactics and everytime you play it it's a new experiance. Also when you get good at it you'll find new tactics that wouldn't work in any other shooter like using a flashbang to draw enamiies to you whilst you cloak then using super strength to kill them.
hmmmm......i see some non-fps games being suggested, but they're all good. Let me add a couple of names to the list - Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and Frontlines : Fuel of War.
Heres some suggestions: 1. Fontlines: Fuel of War 2. Enemy Territory Quake Wars 3. Combat Arms ( Free ) http://combatarms.nexon.net/ 4. Star Wars Republic Commando Those are just my recommendations but its all up to you.
If you want War games then get Battlefield 2 and go with Project Reality Mod.
BF2142 if you like mechs, but not nearly as good. Quake Wars if you can pick it up cheap enough the community is still there but not as active as say BF2 Counter Strike Source- Although you should already have it If for some reason you dont like CSS then go with CS1.6 still loads of people play it. Rainbow 6 vegas/2 Free online games: Fear Multiplayer- good fun Americas Army2- hard and i find it a lil dull but some people like it WarRock- I cant stand this but I have a few friends that loved/love it.

Orange Box is a bargain! Brothers in Arms can be fun Crysis UT3- wait for a steam sale though you will get it dirt cheap COD4 Ghost Recon Operation Flashpoint
