Below is a list of worthwhile freeware games from 2007. Since all those games are free I didn't use any harsh criterias. a
A positive opinion on either one of the source sites was good enough for me to include the game on the list.

What does this sign mean?:

It means it's a game I personaly played and recommend. They aren't necessary absolutele best on this list ( I didn't have time to play through all them), they symbol simply marks those that I personaly enjoyed the most.

This list is bassicaly a complilation of new posts found on those great sites.

As well as the Privateer (Wing Commander) remake

Also, be sure to check out the other Thread by NutDave about Games For Windows aka Computer Gaming World.. list of 101 Free games...

I foresee that Adrian has his work cut out for him on this one..
Unless your just strickly looking at 2007 year games... I believe the Maniac Mansion remake (non rom) was made this year... GTA 1-2 was made available in what? 2005 or so? anyways.. there is just literally hundreds upon hundreds of free games out there..

Yeah...I'm sticking to 2007 releases, otherwise I would have to list couple thousands :D Maniac Mansion remake was released many years ago(jn 2004 AFAIR)

I might add some older games, but only if they had substantial update in 2007. Yeah...a bit strict, but the world of freeware games is so damn vast that I needed to set some boundaries :)

I would prefer to see one of the other entries to the same competition listed. It's actually a great game, so far more deserving of people's time. Darwin Not Available: http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/game/dna

Small nitpick: eXceed 2nd Vampire was out in 2006 (not sure about the REX remix/1.5 release, but that's probably '07, and eXceed 3rd Jade Penetrate certainly is). Possibly more consequential nitpick: there are free stage-restricted demos, but all the eXceed games are commercial, not freeware, which seems to fall outside your intended umbrella.

I've done some tweaking, added few games etc. I will update this thread at least once a month (preferably once every week or two). I still have to look through all Flash games ( fortunately Jayisgames makes it so much easier to spot the good ones), so expect huge update in couple of days

games I've added:

Heaven2Ocean
Great platformer based around controlling a drop of water. It won the "Dare to be Digital" game competition.

Manifold
"A physics-based action/puzzle game created by artist and designer Joel Esler. Use special orbs that can alter gravity within a small radius to climb your way through dangerous situations. It's a simple idea that's been paired with smart artistic direction to create a game that pleases the senses as well as your sense of fun."-Jay is games

Escape from Octlien

Toytown Tower Defense

Yin Yang
"Nitrome again delivers an interesting exploration of a concept, a platformer about metaphysical duality, and it offers a healthy plate of puzzle-levels to allow you to absorb all the flavors."- Jay is Games

Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
RM2K3 remake of the Game Boy original with updated graphics and some other changes.

Night Life
Unique breakout-like game about a Japanese band in Tokyo.

Moon Patrol - New Path

Dogfight: Battle in the skies

Camelot Warriors remake

Colosseum remake

Harmotion

Dotville
"a city-building Flash game along the lines of Civilization, but greatly simplified. You play the leader of a tribe of Dots (yeah, Dots) and must rise to the rank of Emperor in fifty turns, then defeat the evil empire of Squares"- Jayisgames

Excellent list! I'll definently be looking those over when I've got the time. For now though, might I recommend:

knytt, knytt stories and within a deep forest! All excellect little freeware games by the same person that're great fun.

Dwarf Fortress. Terrible graphics and interface, but once you get past that you'll disocer this is actually a really fun lil' game. Kinda like the ol' Populous.

And lest ye all forget, the grandfather of ALL rpg's, the one, the only NETHACK!
