@dannyodwyer Touche, my friend. You're right - that was a throwaway comment and was inappropriate of me. You properly dealt with my unnecessary and thoughtless comment. There, wasn't that better than creating a massive furor and posting video's about how horrible we all are?
So, my point, which I unfortunately overshadowed with my last sentence, is that this is a crazy amount of furor over something that has been going on for years and years. And it is my opinion that this is all due to the special status of the particular individual that started it all.
And I am very intentionally stating that SHE started all of this and not anyone else. If the abusive posts had been paid for by a small group or organized in any fashion, then we could blame that group. But that's not what happened. It was the epitome of a grassroots movement to express outrage at a thoroughly bad review.
Now, we've had bad reviews before, but this one was dripping with politics! How can you say it wasn't? Hey, I'm not a fan of Tom Shea in particular when he gives an OPINION that I disagree with. But his opinions are directly related to the game and colored by his considerable experience in playing and reviewing games. I respect him for that. This review was absolutely filled with _political opinion_. Usage of words like misogyny and male chauvinism and sexism (and racism and homophobia) is just running rampant, being applied to things that have nothing to do with those words. It was her opinion that the game is misogynistic. If I were to express my opinion that Obama is a Communist or that George Bush is a fascist, would that opinion not be political? Of course it would.
The fact is, people are sick and tired of people throwing around these words where they don't belong. It's a pattern of bad behavior meant to suppress opinion and behavior not deemed "acceptable". We in the U.S. abhor being told to be politically correct, and I think we've just had enough of it! To now say that we shouldn't express our opinions (harsh as they may be) because we've dared to question one of the Special Class is just going off the deep end.
I don't think this article is quite accurate. This statement: "Currently, all Wii U and 3DS downloads are linked to the hardware itself.", implies that you cannot, in any way, shape, or form, download your already paid-for content on a new system. I'm pretty sure there is a way to transfer from one system to another; it's just not quite as seamless as the other vendors' systems. You have to explicitly do the transfer and then the old system is kind of "reset" so that you can't have your account on more than one at a time. It's kludgy, I'll give you that. But the way this article is written, it implies that if you want to move your account and downloads from one system to another you're just SOL. Not true, from my understanding. Am I wrong about that?
Don't really care that XB1 won't have voice commands in other areas. Kind of wish it would bother with such a stupid feature at all. Actually, wish they would pull that joke of a console altogether. Major flop in the making.
With Pokémon coming out at the same time, the reason for this system is obvious - it's for kids! They can't see the 3D images anyway and the 3DS system is heavier and more clumsy for small hands. So what's the point in paying $40 more for a feature that kids have to turn off anyway? This seems like the perfect compromise - get rid of the feature that small kids can't use anyway and give it the ability to play all the newest 3DS games as well as the huge back library of DS games. I know I'll be getting it for my kids since they love playing the 3DS but can't really enjoy its primary feature. Yeah, SM3DL doesn't really work in 2D, but the vast majority of 3DS games play just fine in 2D.
