@twizded: Looking like 5 to six months on some titles. That's good value for me.

@sonny2dap: Exactly. MS wants your consistent monthly money. In exchange they would be, provided this isn't all smoke up our asses, literally the greatest video game service of all time. All Star Wars games available day one from your $10 monthly subscription. Madden available day 1. Halo, Gears. Anthem, their new IP. Fifa. They money you'd save would be crazy provided you already like some EA titles. EA's backward catalogue added to Gamepass would be crazy. MS would likely ensure that some of EA's studios create some new IP's and those would likely be exclusive. But for the multi-million sellers per year they will always remain multiplat on day one cause who in their right mind would give up PS money. But long term gamers will start to add up what it costs and Gamepass will look attractive. Sony will still sell like crazy cause their first party games are great. This is what MS would be buying if this plays out:

  • Criterion Games
  • EA Digital Illusions CE (formerly Digital Illusions Creative Entertainment, DICE)
  • DICE Los Angeles
  • Ghost Games
  • EA BioWare—focuses on creating multiplatform, role-playing, MMO and strategy games. Includes
    • BioWare Austin
  • Motive Studios
  • Respawn Entertainment

EA Sports

Main article: EA Sports

Publishes all the realistic, casual, and freestyle sports-based titles from EA, including FIFA Football, Madden NFL, Fight Night, NBA Live, NCAA Football, Cricket, NCAA March Madness, Tiger Woods PGA Tour, NHL Hockey, NASCAR and Rugby. Led by Patrick Söderlund.[69]

  • EA Tiburon (Florida)
  • EA Canada (Burnaby)

EA Maxis

Main article: EA Maxis

Known for The Sims series, EA Maxis develops and markets life-simulation games and online communities. The label is headquartered at EA's campus in Redwood Shores. Maxis' original studio in Emeryville was closed in March 2015 and the EA Salt Lake studio was closed in April 2017. The studio now sits under the leadership of the SVP of EA Mobile.[71] The label had previously been renamed EA Play.

  • The Sims Studio
  • Firemonkeys Studios
  • Tracktwenty

EA All Play

Includes original EA and partner franchises like The Simpsons, Tetris, SCRABBLE, MONOPOLY, World Series of Poker, Real Racing, Ultima, as well as online games for the Pogo.com online service.

  • PopCap Games
  • EA Mobile

Again, this may all be smoke and mirrors, but its easy to see why long-term this would be a great deal for MS. Gamepass would offer an unbelievable value that no console could compare to right now. And they are uniquely suited to this type of service . And speaking for me personally, I hope and pray its real cause I would save a shit-ton of money over the next couple of years. **** the systems wars BS about who's console is ton top. I'm talking about me playing the games I want to play and yet paying much less because I play on Xbox.

Three things:

1. Its just a rumor. Take it with a grain of salt.

2. 24 hours later still no reply/refute from either EA or MS. Interesting...

3. It would be an incredibly smart move for MS. And they would do the smart thing and play the long game. Smart thing is all multi-plat games remain so. You can buy Anthem, Mass Effect, Madden, Fifa, Battlefield, Titanfall, Battlefront, NHL, ect on PS4 and PC just like you always have and that won't change. But here's the big huge deal that is why MS would want to do this. I guaran-fucking-tee you every EA game ends up on GAMEPASS DAY 1 like all MS first-party titles. And that means on PC and PS4 you are buying full games day of release and I am paying ten bucks a month. If Anthem, Battlefield, and Madden launch in the same month PS4 gamers will be paying, provided they buy them all, $180 bucks and I will be paying $10. And lets say Game Pass keeps then for a minimum 5 months then I can buy the title at a reduced price or just move on the next big release. Consumer wise as it pertains to money Xbox will not only have the best current performance system wise, but far and away the best value money-wise. Game pass would have no equal in value. Halo, Gears, Forza, Fable, Crackdown 3. Sea of Thieves, State of Decay 2, Battlefield, Battlefront 2, Anthem, Madden, Fifa, Mass Effect, NHL Hockey, Titanfall would all be in Gamepass at the same time or on their release day and all available for $10 dollars total. Every new installment of each of those series will be the same way. None of that devalues PS4's amazing first-party efforts, but damn the money I save gaming on Xbox is crazy. MS wants that Netflix money and are going after it whether this turns out to be real or not. With EA they answer every first party development issue. They would have a small army of developers who's new IP would end up on Xbox, while the Multi-plats will likely all stay that way cause you would be a fool to pass up PS4 money. A fucking fool. But long-term you'll be paying so much more for EA games on PS4 or PS5. Battlefront will cost you $60 to play on PS4 while I get it and every EA and MS games and a few third party games for $10 bucks a month. Over time this will become a huge issue for Sony. Money always, always matters. The less you have to spend starts to throw system loyalty out the window. I think if we go another day with no word from MS or EA then at the very least talks are happening. No doubt about that.

PC gaming is very popular and profitable, but I bet a number of people like me who have zero interest in PC gaming for the following reasons:

1. In nearly every new PC game thread there are people complaining about poor optimization, tweaking settings, bugs, and waiting for patches. In the vast majority of games I have bought this year for consoles the game works day one. I don't tweak I just play and for a lot of console only gamers that's a Big deal. Doesn't mean all console games run perfectly cause we know they don't. But most work out the box.

2. For factor size for those who play mostly in the living room or bedrooms/Man Caves.

3. Price. Sure the very best PC can blow away any console. When PS5 and XBOX 2 debut there will be PC's already out there that can perform much better than whatever they debut with. But I have zero interest in paying for it. My Xbox One X currently fits all my graphics needs. Judging by PS4 and Switch sales people love the latest and greatest but see price as an issue. There is no $500 gaming pc that can do what the x can do, and that's before you add in backwards compatibility, form factor size, media capabilities, ect. For a lot of console only gamers we want to pay one price for hardware that we will use for years and not have to worry about upgrading, ect.

To close PC gaming is doing very damn well, but there's a huge segment of gamers that have no interest in it.

1. On console they work out of the box badly, for example the new okami HD port being 30fps will go over with no complaints as do most performance issues on consoles, lack of mouse menu support, non rebindable keys, lack of graphics options, sound options, those are standard things for consoles while they are considered symptoms of a terrible port on pc.

Day 1 terrible PC ports are still a better experience then day 60 patched versions on a console, just because of the extra features, the ability to use many different controllers, mods, and the fact that PC's can power through ports with bad performance.

2-3

Here's a rig just as powerful (cpu is actually a bit better) as the 1X in a Mini ITX form factor going for 560 (currently) (the price of the 1X + a year of forced subscription fee)

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/YsLn3F

It has backwards compatibility with almost every system ever released

http://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/Main_Page

"media capabilities" is kinda vague but pc has Kodi, supports every codec and file format, countless types of remote controllers, every streaming site works and is superior in probably most aspects.

+to compensate for the shitty gpu prices that are plaguing people this year, you can join the scum and mine with your rig at night and eventually it could get you back a good portion of your rig's price.

and why would you worry about upgrading? is there someone holding a gun to your head or what?

Is there a reason why you care so much, lol. I don't want to and won't ever game on a PC for my reasons. Dude, if you enjoy it have at it.

It's funny. You've spent, what do you think, over 1100 on Xbox systems? 300(xbone) + 500(x1x) + Live? You could have built a pretty beastly PC that would still be able to max out most games for that price.

Spent that over nearly 5 years, and the X will likely get me through three more. A beastly PC is a great thing, but the X is already beastly to me. I don't care to build and customize a PC. And I work in IT and on systems and servers daily. I just have zero interest in anything other than a simple box underneath my TV. I don't think there's anything wrong with PC Gaming and people who enjoy all of it, good for them. But for me price, form factor, ease of use and backwards compatibility matter more than running games at 4k 60 fps. 4kHDR 30fps look pretty great to me so I'm good.

ok hold on there...

One, you are in IT and work with systems and you are saying with a straight face that a PC is hard to get up and running for the vast majority of games. really? I call certifiable horse %^&* on that.

Two, you are in IT and you think cheapness is a highlight of a gaming platform? kind of like how KIA is a cheap car or how I can get fiberboard bookshelf at Walmart, or how Dollar General has better food then whole foods because its cheaper.

really?

LMAO, seriously?

Yes, I have worked in IT around PC/Network/Server Systems Support for over a decade. Of course I can make PC gaming work for me. I just don't want too. Many people who don't work in IT as a career still know a ton about it and those who do and they all have issues sometimes with games on day one. I don't have the patience at this point in my life after A, working on PC's all day and B being a dad of two little kids. So when I have time to game I a very simple set-up. And PC requires more than I care to do. I prefer consoles. Always have, always will. I'm not trying to get anyone to feel different. Just speaking for myself. PC gaming isn't for me.

And yes, cheapiness is a factor. Cost always matters. I'm an adult. My hobby aint my life. So while I could easily build and afford a powerful gaming PC I just have zero issue to do so for many reasons. Its simple, really.

however that doesnt alter the OP being wrong.

The problem I have with the religious consolers is they see it as a huge defeat if they are not the best. They take the competition far to seriously. The line I draw is when someone states things as facts that are not facts. Truth (at least to be personally) is paramount, its not paramount to the console religion, only winning is

Yeah, but you're posting on system wars, lol. Having said that, all fanboying anything is stupid. Defending my billion dollar company online makes about as much since as holding a AA meeting at a bar. But I agree about people stating things as facts suck. My thoughts are simply my POV. Not talking the gospel

Coming from the base Xbox One to the X is a pretty big damn difference. I'm very satisfied. Playing ACO, Wolfenstein 2, Quantum Break and Forza 7 the upgrade not only in resolution, but animation, draw distance, details, ect look fantastic. I cant wait to see next years games when devs really have a handle on what it can do and how best to get the most from it. Overall the difference in graphics and animation on my 4K HDR tv is pretty significant. Now bring on State of Decay and hopefully a great *fingers crossed* Crackdown 3.
