No, backwards compatiblity was not taken out to reduce cost. It was taken out to "encourge more PS3 game sales"; which I think is a lame reason to take it out.

I'm sure it also had something to do with re-selling PS2 games as HD remakes. Either way it's BS and BC shouldn't have been removed.

No way... First of all with all the awesome first party exclusives Sony makes it would sell reasonably well regardless. Secondly you could make the argument that minus the BR drive Sony could've priced the PS3 around $300 to $400 at launch and it wouldn't have been delayed a year and it probably would've sold like hotcakes at launch.

The environments still look dull and repetitive with too much grey and tan.

We're hearing conflicting reports about this new Nintendo console some sources say it's on par with the PS3/360 some say it's slightly more powerful and others like IGN say it's significantly more powerful than the PS3 and is capable of full 1080P graphics. Lets just wait and hear what the official announcement from Nintendo says about the specs.

I thought the story and most of the characters were dull and boring except Brucie who was quite funny. Compared to GTA:SA the sandbox gameplay was watered down significantly. Also what happened to the awesome cheats that were in previous GTAs? I used to spend hours flying around San Andreas on a jet pack or driving around in a tank blowing crap up. I get the feeling they were going for a more realistic and gritty game with GTA4 and I hope that's the last time they use that formula... They need to go back to exaggerated characters and humor with lots of fun sandbox gameplay in GTA5.

Yeah, I'm sure that's big for COD fans but then again it's only timed exclusive. Also doesn't COD sell way more copies on the 360 already? So I don't see this having a big impact. That's why I didn't see this announcement as a "bomb".

This conference was a complete let down to me. What happened to "dropping bombs" at e3 M$?... All they did was show games that we all already knew about with the exception of the Crytek game which didn't do anything for me and then they just about put me to sleep with all the lame casual/kiddie kinect stuff and they anounced the 360 slim without a price cut. All Sony has to do is anounce one new exclusive game and they win e3 IMO.
