another thing that would suck about this is just not used and rental games....but what about sharing a game amongst family members and friends? this means a 16 year old brother couldn't buy a game and then let his 13 year old brother (in the same house) play that game. Also, no more swapping amongst friends. this is just stupid. Get those ET cartridges ready, and we as the consumers can be that "bulldozer in the desert"!
I am confused as to why this is a "dilemma"....it seems as if the article is simply stating it is a mistake. Am I missing the whole "torn between" catch-22 element?
@Msirbono....I think YOU are missing the point of the article. They are simply stating that whether or not publishers put games on the disc or not they can still stick you. For example, they could have a completely finished game.....just remove a few missions OFF the disc and then call it DLC on release day. No real difference in that and actually including it on the disc.....either way you are getting screwed. I think most gamers have zero problems with paying for DLC like 3-4 months down the road when it is obvious the team programmed things AFTER the game was actually finished.
If Developers really hate used game sales so much....they should simply make it where buying a new game allows all the DLC available (except for possibly large "true" expansion packs)....and then nickel and dime the used guys.
I really love you reviews, Carolyn. Also, you seemed to have grown up in the same era as me and like a lot of the same games, etc. Your personal life doesn't bother me at all. I wouldn't let a juvenile video game bother you. The fact is prejudice will always exist, but there is no debating that it is getting better. When I was a kid in the South growing up NO ONE every said it was OK to be gay Now, I hear a lot of people and teenagers who accept it. It is a long process. Transgender folks dealing with even more complicated prejudices. I think the old drag queen stereotype fooling a man into bed only to find a penis (Crying Game) horrifies a lot of men when it is really far fetched. Anyway, I would just ignore foolishness and keep doing the great job that you do. You can't make everyone love or accept you....and that really goes for everyone in this world. You just have to respect the ones who respect you and keep on truckin.
