While met with fairly positive views, basically the majority of what you mentioned has already been said in those reviews so you probably should've been able to determine if the game was for you prior to a waste of a rental. For instance, while its Kojima and the game aesthetically looks pleasing, based on the gameplay I've seen and the descriptions I've read, it doesn't seem like it would be something I'm into which means HARD PASS.... simple as that. I'm glad some are enjoying it though.

@hydralisk86: I've seen the tester consoles out in Target and Best Buy. It's not as "clicky" but still very responsive... if that makes sense. Not sure why I feel like the regular Switch joycon buttons feel like old school typewriter keys but yeah they definitely don't feel like that imo

Because, Nintendo.

Pretty much... if it's Mario, DK, or Zelda, best believe you'll probably never see those at a discount. Honestly, every response I've seen so far is valid. Nintendo rarely drops prices on its first party titles

You can take the shell apart and you can soak the parts. I've never done it since I never had a cat pee on a console, but apparently its possible. At the very least you can soak a old NES, so I assume you can do the same with a N64.

If you go with this option I'd recommend soaking it in that solution that breaks down pet urine from the pet store... forgot the name of it. If it got into the internal components, but it still works, I say deal with it but that stench will always be there

Yea Luigi is always the underdog but this game is a hit for the Switch imo. I'm on floor 7 and its just been a fun ride so far. It's hard to put down with so many nuances in the levels practically begging for exploration.

I'm not expecting much when it comes to replay value but I'll definitely attempt to 100% the floors before retiring it

Currently own; just an Xbox One X, PS4 Pro, Switch, and Xbox 360 at the moment.

Owned over my lifetime, let's do this:

  • Atari 2600
  • NES
  • SNES
  • Sega Genesis (32X add on also)
  • Sega CD
  • Sega Nomad (handheld Genesis
  • Sega Saturn
  • Sega Game Gear
  • Sega Dreamcast
  • Virtual Boy
  • N64
  • GameCube
  • Game Boy
  • Game Boy Color
  • 3DS
  • Vita
  • PS1
  • PS2
  • Xbox
  • Wii
  • PS3

List of actual games owned now and from the past, impossible. But most games are digital these days and I rarely buy physical unless there's something I'm curious about that's at a deep discount.

Totals:

X1X, 100+

PS4P, 60+

Switch, 15

Hopefully this time next year I'll be on X2 and PS5. If they're fully backward compatible

Original Shenmue actually wasn't much of a hit. Just developed a fanbase.

Also the birth of QTE's might be tied to Shenmue, someone fact check me on that. It was cool with the amount of things you can do in the base game but there were also some serious technical issues that limited it.

Also copy and paste combat from a popular fighting game at the time Virtua Fighter. However, in spite of all that, I have fond memories of Shenmue

Wasn't a huge fan of the original, top down perspective, GTA games at all in the 90s. Wasn't until GTA3 was announced that I went back to give the first one a chance again and completely loved it.

Interest in COD never faded. Not on the hate hype train.

Some have been better than others admittedly, but still good
