@musalala

I know that one gets sick of hearing "the reason is sexism", but that is because it is generally true. Especially in games.

The pay gap is a myth pulled out by feminists whenever they want their
agenda pushed. The reality is women are inherently less valuable than
men in the workforce as a general rule for various reasons and that is
why they are payed less. Maternity leave, marriage and the inevitable
quitting afterwords, possible harassment issues with male
co-workers(legitimate or not). Women as a general rule tend to be less
career focused than men as well.
Obviously
i'm generalizing and that isn't fair but nothing in life is. If you're
an employer, you tend to look at everything as it directly translates
into money for the company and efficiency. At that point it should
become obvious why men are more valuable statistically speaking.
LOL
at women soldiers just as good as men. Did you have the pleasure of
actually seeing them in action? My experience with women in the Marines
tells a completely different story. Almost NONE of them could handle the
same conditions and stress as men could.

So, @amillionhp, to start with the pay gap is not a myth and you actually seem to know this since you actually go on to try to defend inequality of pay. It is a statistically proven fact. It does differ some form country to country but in general they make about 2/3 as a man doing the same job.

As to women being less valuable in the workplace, it amazes me that people still think like this in 2013. But to stick more to the points, starting with maternity leave. I myself am at this time on maternity leave taking care of my 14 month old son. Once you stop breastfeeding there is no reason why you cant share or switch. And i personally are having a blast getting to know my son.

Why marriage would force make a woman have to quit her job? I see no valid reason why that would be true. My wife works and she is still good at her job, even after getting married and having a baby. Why would that change?

As to the possible harassment issues from male co-workers. Penalizing women for some men not knowing how to behave is infantile, not to mention morally despicable. That is like punishing victims of violence for standing in the way of the offender.

If you really think that men are more valuable then go and find me that statistic. Since you seem to think that your statement is a fact or self evident then it should not be hard to find whole bunch of credible sources and studies on the subject. I you don´t then please ask yourself why it does not exist.

I did have the pleasure of seeing them in action and they preformed just as well as and other soldiers. Now i have actually had the pleasure of meeting and working with marines and while in general i have mostly good things to say i did also see some disturbing things.

You say that the female marines under-performed compared to their male counterparts. I ask you how well you would perform if you could not trust or count on your squad mates. You should know how deep that trust needs to be for a unit to work well. So yes, i have seen instances where women are not really let in, even if many of them try to the point of lying to themselves that everything is fine. Those women do not perform well, but that is because they are human, not women. Men who are somehow different and not really "let in" suffer the same fate.

Now, i could write all day on the military, unit cohesion and so on but in my experience, units with women generally outperforms "normal" units. Not because girls are better or worse soldiers but because the whole unit strengthens with the diversity.

Sorry for the long post.

Have a nice day and peace out!

@amillionhp @blaze_adeel

What you say is true but i think it is more a symptom of it becoming less and less "male" to be smart or educated. Which is a part of the problem.

If you are a smart or educated guy you generally get labeled with "nerdy" instead of "manly".

Also @blaze_adeel , she did not say that and you missed the point. If you are in fact serious.

Have a nice day.

@CraZed__ @kungfuj0

I did not say that well written characters does not exist but that does not redeem the issue. They are still the exception which is my point. It is weird that we cant have reasonably believably written female characters.

Female characters in games are more often there as something for the guys playing to lust after.

Check out "Tropes vs Women in Video Games" on youtube.

@kungfuj0

I agree completely. Like i posted below it seems weird that we encounter female character after female character in games that are so pathetically poorly written and so few developers seems to realize that the fact that their staff consists of 99,9% dudes might be a factor (0,01% = cleaning lady).

Ignoring and making minorities stereotypical characters is something that often annoys the stink out of me when playing games. Same goes for female characters, but in this case it boggles the mind that we manage to ignore and/or stereotype half the population.

First of all check out the #onereasonwhy (just google it or whatever)

In many countries there are very real political and legal barriers against women having many different kinds of jobs.

In the more open world the problem is more that women are socialized into choosing other paths. The few who actually have the force of personality to go against that and get a career that is male dominated are then treated differently. By differently i mean less pay (about 2/3 pay for same work), lower chance of advancement and outright harassment.

Moving on to what they can add to games. In general media gets better the more points of view the creators have since it gives a more colored view of the world and ignoring 1/2 of the worlds populations experience seems weird. For a small example, the amount of badly written female characters do you not encounter? Many of them are so badly written that it just hurts the brain (i am omitting the ones written badly by purpose). Why do you think they are so badly written?

I truly believe that the difference between men and women is mainly a self-perpetuating social construct.

I currently work as a mechanical engineer, a job mainly filled with dudes. But the few women that i do work with are generally extremely capable, even if they generally do earn less than me.

I have the same experience from the army, the army girls are just as bad-ass and combat capable as their male counterparts.

It saddens me that there are so few in both categories since girls are taught from a very early age that the world expects them to be soft, caring and either stay at home or seek a career as a nurse or something like that.

Sorry for the long post but i want to end with saying this, if i ever have a daughter i will teach her to be strong, proud and brave. Not submissive and obedient. Having an affinity for the color pink is not genetical trait.

Peace out!

Twice as powerful? What do you mean here? Twice the computing, Effect (W), graphics or that the PS4 simply shoots rainbows, eats steel and defecates chain?

It does have about 30% more graphical computing power if my memory serves, is that what you are talking about?

I get the ppl are upset about the 24h check in. It´s not a problem for since I actually live in a place with stable internet but if I moved to Somalia or something I guess that it would be a problem. So, I don´t really care about this but I do get that ppl are upset.

The "you can´t share your game disc" thing I don´t get what ppl are upset about however. Since you automatically share your game library with up to 10 ppl, and they with you. That pretty much means that I wont have to buy every other game, since my friends will pick it up. Sure, you can´t trade your disc in but I can´t see it being that big of a deal.

I might buy a PS4 later on but to this day I am pretty unhappy with Sony letting my account and credit card get hacked, that was a pretty epic fail. I still do not trust PSN.
Also even with my 100/100 mbit line (even without router) PSN feels slow.

All in all I like it that xbox one is ambitious and my personal opinion is that ppl are getting a bit to riled up about details that won't really effect them that much.

Now, 60 bucks for a game, now that turd hurts and I am going to need salve after this session with the porcelain goddess.

@Aria1368 @tigerpirro I actually like Kinect, I love the fact that they actually try to make something ambitious and high tech work. The sensory systems Microsoft made work well together in Kinect was something that really had not even been made to work on a scientific research level. I really like that kind of ambition, daring and drive. That makes the world go forward.

Now I do realize that most of the games that has come out for it has been somewhat underwhelming but it takes time for developers to learn how to utilize new ways of interacting with games.

As for exclusives I really dislike the whole concept, they do nothing but hurt the gamers. The "fight" should be between consoles with their respective hardware and services.

One thing i think a lot of people are forgetting is that the PS3 did not do that well until quite late in this console generation for many reasons and in a lot of ways. Heck, I still don't really trust Sony not to get hacked again. I mean, you do realize that 77 million people got their personal information stolen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_Network_outage). That was a new scope of epic fail.

Still I actually might buy a PS4 later on but I don´t think it is nearly as ambitious, heck it is still a 32 bit system, thats pretty depressing.

I said to much, have a nice day.
