I wait for few before I get the XBOX one.... Been around long enough to know how much Sony don't know what they are doing....
I like how Microsoft brought Halo 1&2 to the PC but ignored bringing the rest. This is why I stopped buying Windows Live games.
xbox one way to expensive and poor polices, don't buy it and Microsoft will change their policies and in 1year it will cut price. If you have kids 10 and under get then the wii u Nintendo is releasing all new game for their best franchise's. in fact I would like to play the new super smash brothers!
I do not want to be an asshole or anything but .......... well ............ f@ck it I'm going to take the risk ........ am I the only guy that at some point just notised that Jess's shirt made her ..... look so ......... huh ???
P.S. sorry Jessy :S damn you testosterone
I'm leaning PS4 because of all the new xbox policies which I find ridiculous because I love going to gamestop and buying used games! I bought dynasty warriors 7 (a guilty pleasure) for 16 bucks yesterday and I love the way it looks in my library. The only thing holding me back is xbox live vs psn. Since I've never owned a playstation console, I'm worried that the online multiplayer will not match the same quality that I have come to expect on xbox. If you guys have any thoughts on this please share because I don't want to go all in on Sony and get disappointed.
I find it sad when so many people say " X1's restrictions dont apply to me" & "only games matter". They are just other ways of saying "Hey M$ do whatever you want and we'll just smile and take it" Even if your gonna buy the X1, why defend them??
dude what does it mean to be region free? does it mean i can buy my console from us and my games from europe? and about 2 years ago I bought assassins creed revelations from us (i live in europe) and games online multiplayer didnt work so when I buy a PS4 that wont happen right?
Honestly people need to stop all this made up statistic.... Most people dont get Digital Copies... >.> ur brain dead to think they are. If you seen pre-orders/midnight sales. and than compare it to DIGITAL Copies you notice that the numbers are NIGHT and DAY.
You dont get alot of "SWAG" you get in Physical Copy, (Artbooks (which some of them are gorgues), Music CDs (especially for japanese games since i cant type/search in japanse to find the right song), Statues (they looks pretty kick ass in my room) extra DLCs, etc etc.
You need to use hard drive space to download and install Digital game instead of just poping disk in which honestly in my case it limited since i have alot of games for save files/dlc/patches.
Xbox One Ruins all things that means to be "Video Game Collector" I dont feel like paying $60 for a INSTALL Disc than having them tell me once every 24 hours that i can play the game. What if i want to take my console somewhere and their no internet connection or internet is down, or if Xbox One 10-25 years down the road decided to drop the support and now you cant play ANY OF UR VIDEO GAMES ON XBOX ONE. (People need to notice HOW BIG OF a ISSUE this is... if we just allow the compaines to ruin What it means to be a VIDEO GAMER i am scaried to think what else people will allow down the road and kind of restrictions that be put up on us later.
Honestly PS2/Xbox/Gamecube Era was Golden Ages of Gaming. Reason why... all things we have today were not around. No DLC, all content on a disc, No Multiplayer Fees, less expansive price point... Think about it.... Sony Won For providing what before was FREE/No Worry/Expected of a Video Game Console.
Only time i can justify Digital Game is on Steam Sales. Cause it affordable and i can play the games at better specs/frames. And than i still pick up counter part of a physical console version, most reason why... is cause consoles are more reliable than a PC. Less Crashes/Freezes, no BLUE SCREENS of Death. And Consoles are more durable and last longer. I still got my original SNES/PS1/PS2 from release dates and they still work without a problem. Can you same thing about your PC? that you still use after 15+ years?
Xbox One pissed off gamers and most importantly - the early adopters who are needed to drive sales initially and have word of mouth to excite others. PS4 made the right choices and won approval. Now, time will tell how it plays out but anyone with common sense can see that PS4 is a better console and should win while XB1 should struggle initially. But who knows the public's finicky mind. If XB1 does well, then it truly means A fool and his money are soon parted.
And random noise -
Wow, she is white. Too much make up?
Also, on her shirt - would you kindly..... kindly what?
@Snaptrap to be fair after Halo 2 most of the Halo userbase had an Xbox. I love both Halos for PC. I shall be picking up the new Halo ip 343 is developing though. It's no Halo 3 pc but it looks interesting!
@k0k066 I too noticed the shirt but I was trying to figure out what it said. Looked like a Bioshock emblem but it said, "Could you Kindly" kindly what?
@k0k066 What do you mean? Btw, "Would you kindly" is from Bioshock
@k0k066 Go out and meet people, for real.
@k0k066 Pretty sure girls like being wanted. Besides, biology overrules sociability. No need to apologize.
Unless you were planning on harassing someone.
@stlguelk Just get what you think is more appealing for you. I'm going to get both, but the XB1 first because of Forza and the control scheme.
I find that PSN and Xbox Live are just as easy to uses as each other. I have never had any issues or difficulties operating either. The connection setup process is basically identical just with a different user interface.
If you can't figure it out (this comment is not aimed at you) then perhaps you shouldn't be playing video games.
the whole reason why they charging for multiplayer now as Xbox Those is because they know network for their online service was not as strong as Xbox.
Reason they charge you now for internet is because they opened similar network servers as Microsoft so u wont notice a difference anymore.
While some networks are ran by the publishers other ones are still ran through sony and their connections.
@stlguelk It used to be that buying games was a lot of fun. But with Xbox One it feels like I'd be buying a bunch of policies, restrictions, and requirements. I love my original Xbox and Xbox 360 but unless MS does a major 180 with some of this 'YOU MUST BE CONNECTED' business I guess I'm out. Xbox One will join the small number of consoles I never bought; Jaguar, Saturn, and Dreamcast.
I hope you realize that buying nothing but used games is not helping the developers who create those games that you love so much. A lot of these AAA games have multimillion dollar budgets and to support them you should buy their games new so the money goes back to them rather than Gamespot. The problems with xbox1 is the necessary internet connection every 24 hours, lack of ownership of videogames like Steam, and a camera that watches over your living room and can easily be hacked by the government. Actually, the government doesn't even need to hack it, they'll just subpoena MS with any bs claim. PS4 is consumer friendly while xbox1 is publisher friendly.
Sony doesn't have as good of online services and their system is a lot more confusing. And now we'll have to pay for it too! But if used games are important to you, than X1 is going to be a problem.
I never take a specific consoles side because I plan to own them all. For me it's all about gaming not loyality to a certain brand. But I do get annoyed by their policies.
@lost2bfound A lot of people out there just can't appreciate just how major a paradigm shift in favor of the seller these policies represent. But perhaps they'll learn via trial-by-fire. Maybe we all go through the exercise of a draconian console and in a few years come out the other side with something like Xbox One never happening again. I can dream anyway.
@lost2bfound because they don't what to feel idiotic for a decision they've taken. I was like that, I went for GCN before PS2 in previous gen and I stammered reasons of why GCN was better than PS2, fooling myself. Or they are MS workers trying to transmit a sense of security that shit will not be that bad and calling us SHEEP for reverse psichology bullshit.
@93ChevyNut That is because we are all Sony fans now.
ya it means u can buy game from Europe and play it in USA. and vice verse. same for getting games from japan
@AdrianWrz good point but current consoles don't last that much because of something as simple as this: heating problems. Sooner or later those problems catchup with the console and terminate it, specially sooner if you use your consoles on HD output.
@AdrianWrz Digital copies are the future. Physical media will never truly go away, but digital downloads will be used by the vast majority. Mostly because they will be cheaper in the long run and have more flexible prices.
More than half of what Sony showed at their conference is download-only. It won't be that long before some devs decide to circumvent publishers and push their product directly to their consumer via digital download.
Also, most of your information is way off. When Live goes down you just get to keep your games for example. And as for PC, it's far superior due to Steam and similar services. If your console breaks down you need a new one of that exact type (360, PS3, PS4 etc.). If you get a new PC you just download all your games again onto that machine.
It's not wrong to prefer physical media, but your reasoning is way off.
@AdrianWrz "And Consoles are more durable and last longer. I still got my original SNES/PS1/PS2 from release dates and they still work without a problem. Can you same thing about your PC? that you still use after 15+ years?"
Did you never have a YLOD or RROD on either of the current gen??? If you didn't then you where the lucky one person. As for PC's verses Console comment is pretty invalid as an old PC will still turn on and run just like a old console, the reason is same for both because they are old tech and you no longer wish to use it!!! But if you do they will still both run!!! PC components will always be a superior build quality compared to a console as the console will always come in cheaper, and where do they make that saving is often in the quality of components used!!!
Also within the next 5 years Digital sales will out strip physical, as you pointed out steam have stripped the bones off physical sales of PC games as there really is no advantage to going to a shop when you can get it cheaper and quicker on download. Same has happened to Music & Movies as people like Itunes and Netflix have proven over the past couple of years!!
This really will be the last gen that supports physical disks!!
@fanirama 'Anyone who doesn't share my opinion is a fool'.
I wonder how long it will take before you figure out that's a completely idiotic thought.
@k0k066 oh, it's "Would you Kindly"
@darksonic140 ok here is the thing for the last time I just said that Dess looks hot in this shirt that is all and yep I know that it from bioshock but it has nothing to do with the logo
Wtf? What made you say that I have enough friends, and I really can't see the reason that you would say such a thing, well I guess haters are going to hate....
Hey, who doesn't like being wanted? Anyway I did what I did just because this topic has nothing to do with what I previously mentioned and I tried not to make myself look like some kind of guy that has constantly his mind on sex. Anyway thnx for the understanding ;)
Looking at numbers last year, or was it the year before, Ubisoft had revenues over a billion dollars. That's a 1 and a 0 and another 0... +1,000,000,000.00. Tell me: how much of that went into game development and how much into Guillemot`s 5 brothers pockets?
This is just Ubisoft I'm talking now. How about Activision, EA and the rest?
Games are not movies. Only one has cost a fortune to make: Red Dead Redemption. The rest... a few millions here and there, not much more, and once an engine has been created for one it's reused for further iteration until the public gets bored with them. So... How much goes into production and how much goes into pockets of bosses?
I love how you saying "Not Helping the Developers". But what about all the private businness/families/places like gamestop that depend on "Used" marketplace to put food on the table.
Their two sides to every coin. Used Market is the necessary evil.
The problem is the publisher who force developers do things they dont want to like. Release game before is ready. Also horribile stuff forced to put into the game that developers didnt want.
Every developer out their wants to create a video game that "They want to Play Themselves"
Also NEW vs Used = has nothing to do with PC world. Any game if it AAA title and released on PC or Xbox/PS3/ etc etc... is going to get hacked/priated in some way. And people will find new ways to hack the system.
Xbox One what it end up doing is instead of people selling "USED" Games. Will end up selling Accounts with specific games on them.
You wont be able to stop the black market. it will always exist just as it exists in the real world. People just want a product for Cheaper the price no matter at what price it is at.
@JZender Hey idiot, neither MS or Sony are hosting your beloved game. All mp game are host by the studio or publisher some case peer to peer like COD. WTF u mean by service, this is one of many myths created by stupid xbox fan boy. And now people have to live with this stupid rule. What's next? Ill be very piss if steam start following this same format.
i did get RROD but when i got it i just went to the store were i bought the consolse over 2 years ago and gotten brand new one it something called (Geek Squad Protection)
Also you proven my point as well. What the benefit of a older PC - Their is none. So you spend on parts/computer every 3-6 years $500-1500 dollars. While i spend under $400 and i still use them 10+ years down the road
Honestly the graphic gap between consoles and PC games is getting smaller and smaller...
Oh sure you can play Crysis games in SUPER CRAZY setting that u need monster computer? but is spending over $1500-2500 just to have best graphics on that ONE GAME reasonable? seems like waste of money to me
With the new Consoles. plus game developed. You wont notice a difference. If you havent noticed Video Games Requirements have not been going up in recent years
With this consoles you most likely wont notice a big difference between PC version and consoles at all.
Reason for this is Console's developers are controlling the market for PC Gamers especially if it released on multiplatform. A game designed for consoles release wont have too big of a difference in graphics. Sure you have better shadows/ better frames person second.
But when you have beasts like PS4/Xbox One O.o u hardly notice a difference.
Biggest thing PC has it going for is MMORPGs. But based on what i seen/read about E3 and plans for both consoles. We going to start seeing alot of MMORPGS on consoles as well.
@plm3d_basic @SpicaAntares It seems to me you`ll have to do some more research my friend. The most expensive game to make in the history of games was Red Dead Redemption, over a hundred millions, and Rockstar lost money on it but, at least, they created a masterpiece.
Games costs between a few millions to a dozen max to create. 3D engines cost also money to create, or to buy/rent from others, but once it's done it`s recycled in further iteration of the game developed, so whatever price it`s amortized along the way.
Add the fact that governments, to attract studios, subsidize them on a long period, and you`ll get a much better picture. In Montreal, for instance, a 1/3 of all employees salaries are paid by the state for a period of 5 years. That's a lot of money (public money that could`ve been use for social programs or things more useful than studios with billions in revenues). What happens after these 5 years remains to be seen but I`m willing to bet good money they`ll play the same game with other cities or governments and move slowly their production elsewhere. Ubisoft has already started by creating a studio in Ontario and displacing the production of some of their franchises there (Splinter Cell for instance, the last one was made in Montreal. Ubisoft was the first studio to open in Montreal, under the agreement). And, btw, all of them have footholds in different countries and all of them play governments against each other.
As for your comment: if Square Enix sold 3.5 million copies of Tomb Raider it does not translate in $210 million in their pockets. Discs cost money to make, retailers take a fair share of the amount, on top of that discounts are given to retailers depending on agreements and the retail price of a game can drop pretty fast if the publishers don`t feel quantities are moving fast enough (like Tomb Raider and Deus Ex, BTW).
Not all studios are created equal. The 3 musketeers (EA, Activision, Ubisoft) floats on money but Eidos is a small studios and are just getting their head out of the water. Since Square Enix is dropping like a meteor from the sky, their parent company, Eidos may very well feel the impact of that fall.
Actually, Gamespot did an article about how AAA games costs over $100 million and was confirmed by Michael Pachter who has inside information about that sort of stuff. That includes marketing, R&D, publishing, etc. Tomb Raider was stated to be a failure by Square Enix because it only sold around 3.5 million copies in North America in the first month. 3.5 million times $60 equals $210 million dollars. So your entire argument is invalid.
Honestly alot of developers came to understand "Used" Market is needed. Also how much publisher decided to give developers is also in their hand. If publishers were not as Greedy cause that who decides how much they get paid. Also retail who sales the games gets a small cut as well.
Steam doesnt prevent piracy their are ways around Steam's Security to get the games.
Another problem it not even the "Used" market do you notice how fast a game goes down in a value from $59.99 to $49.99 ? especially around the holidays. Brand new released games in September/October go for $29.99 to $39.99 in November. Alot people decide to wait. Only games people pick up on day one is games "Worth picking up or fan of specific series"
Popular/Over produced series like Assassin's Creed/CoD/Uncharted/Halo/God of War etc etc. your better just waiting cause within 2-3 months it going to be in $40s or offered at some retail on a sale. By the next year $29.99.
The initial first 1 month is considered as a real sale for the company.
Used games are needed. Number 1 reason why is "Availability" doesnt matter to me if i game i want to play is out, but i cant finded it as brand new game cause it 2 years old. This what USED games are good for findining games you want to play that someone else is tired of and had a low print count.
I have alot of games in my collection. That costed me over normal price. PS2 games like .hack series that go for $60+ because you cant find them anymore...
or Metroid Triliogy and alot of other Wii Games. That nintendo only printed under 250,000 copies and stoped the production. Were their super expansive and impossible to find in local retail anymore.
That not even talking about games like for NES or older Systems were good luck finding even the crappy games locally around you other than garage sales/flea markets.
I dont feel like paying $100 for brand new version of a game. Just cause their was not alot of print of. I have plenty of games that most gamers never heard of/low count and 97% of my games are artwork/manual = in very good/like new condition. The 3% i had to give up finding as whole package cause people were asking for $100+ dollars. "Kuon" is a good example i only got the CD for it. I never saw the real artwork/manual for that game with my own eyes yet cause it such a low print.
Reason i like Gamestop/and private stores. Especially with Gamestop if they have copy of game i was looking for and it in another state 50+ miles away they ship it to their store and no extra charge. Something i been doing recently alot. (More affordable than going thru Ebay/Amazon)
One thing DEVELOPERS want from customers.
One They want everyone experience their game they worked so hard ot deliver. = Good Feed Back = More likely a sqeual or farther support for the Developers.
Two Every Developer wants to create a game they want to play themselves as well share it with the rest of the world.
Their a reason why when a game gets pirated that developers come out and ask them to enjoy it and if they like it support it .
To me used market is not about "The Cost" honestly i rather pay $5 more for brand new copy than Used cause that way i know i have a game in great condition/manual/artwor. It more about "Do You have it in Stock?"
What about the private businesses/families/places like Gamespot? Do you support them or do you support the developers? That is your choice. I choose to support the people who make the games. If I dislike the publisher/developer then I'll buy the game used. If the publisher decides to put a whole bunch of microtransactions or the game is half finished like Aliens Colonial Marines then I'll buy it used or rent it.
I have no idea why you even brought up the piracy issue. People selling used account is a minority and barely registers, unlike piracy which is a major issue in pc gaming which has caused the creation of Steam, Origin, Uplay, and Microsoft Live. You can't even buy a used game on pc anymore. That type of drm will eventually come to the console market at some point because of loss of revenue from rentals and used games. I could easily torrent them but by doing so it further discourages developers from making games for the pc market.
Lastly, I'm a pcgamer so I don't have any investments into the success of any consoles other than I hope all three consoles are successful because I want AMD to continue to be a viable competitor to Intel and Nvidia since they supply the gpu/cpu for all three consoles. Also, I was basically stating the obvious problems with the xbox1 as a consumer. If you don't have a problem with it then by all means buy it. Also, what will happen years from now when you move to an area with no internet or the servers shut down. All your old games becomes worthless unless MS releases a firmware update to remove all drm. That's also an issue with all new pc games which uses Steam, etc.
@AdrianWrz @patiotom With this release, they will finally come up to a PC standard. Then AMD will release the 8000 series discrete graphics and it will be behind, again. Also, a lot of speculation. Sony didn't exactly cover themselves in glory regarding the AC4 demo freezing 5 separate times during the demo, and the glitches that kept coming up. They decided to go with DDR5 memory, and if you have any soft or hard errors, it will mess your entire system up, since both technologies are using virtual drives for gaming. MS went smarter with the DDR3 simply because you can have reliable memory of the same capacity for less, since hitting the correct timings in memory require binning the memory to ensure they have stable reliable memory. DDR5 is memory used in video cards and is much more expensive than DDR3, and you have to have reliable memory to run the games and operating system that boots off the NVRAM where the OS is embedded. PAX PRIME is the make/break for both companies. It won't be media, it will be gamers. 75,000 gamers who will tweet everything. Sony/MS doesn't come to the table with a reliable system (and the reference systems, not PC's running the software (everyone does it, MS just got caught), the tweet universe is going to explode. Sony falls down and can't fix their reliability issues, they will have pre-order cancellations. If they move the date of the launch into next year (like the PS3 due to hardware issues), it won't look very good, regardless of policies. Same goes for MS.
I think MS has the stronger online deal (more experience, better security, more commitment (300,000 servers at launch, 800,000 servers by the end of the year) but need to brick up certain executive mouths up. Sony is betting the farm that GaiKai can handle an influx of millions of users, at the same time hitting them and stay up and stable.
