I'm not saying that it's more mainstream then the Wii but it does seem it has less hardcore fans (note I didn't say gamers) then the Wii and PS3. On forums like here at gamespot or at VGchartz 360 seems to be underrepresented. And I know that 360 doesnt have less gamers and not just from the console sales, on newssites and other sites that moderate gamers visit the responses are usually more positive towards the 360. While here and especially on VGchartz the 360 appears to have less support then the other consoles in topics. The 360 also wins more prices such as best console at mainstream events, usually by vote but notin polls on gaming sites.I'm wondering why this is and if other people have noticed it aswell.

I have a theory that most 360 gamers are too busy doing other things then to hang around forums (including gaming) while the hardcore base behind the Wii and PS3 consists out of mature Nintendo and Sony fans that have been hardcore supporters fora decade. Anyone else noticed this? And if so do you think it's a good or bad thing?

As someone said above, it would ruin the competition and there wouldn't be as much efford poured into the games. Plus, Microsoft isn't only Xbox, and Sony isn't only Playstation, so merging would mean merging everything else.EliasAndri

Not merging, but a joint venture. It's not as if they won't do it out of principle, Sony made the Xperia with Windows while there were other options so it's not as if they hate MS so much they won't come near them. And it wouldnt ruin the quality, do you really thing Bungie and Konami suddenly don't care about making the best games they can. If this generation learned them anything then it's that you should always stay on your guard because going from the first placeto last place in a matter of years is possible.

I kind of understand your point, but you and I know it wont happen, Sony and Microsoft both want the big slice of the cake for themdoubalfa

And it'll cost ateast one of them their head, if not both of them as the PS2 and the Wii proved that most consumers don't stay to any specific brand. But ofcourse it's nothing more then wishful thinking, but I don't believe the overall quality woudl suffer from it. Especially now after being beaten by the Wii both companies should know better then that.

The link isn't credible at all and what he says isn't new in anyway but he is right. The problem is, it's not shocking because Molyneux actually did say that Milo can't recognise voices. Anybody with half a brain woudl know that speaking in the wrong tone then would result into the wrong response from Milo. Anyone would a compleet brain could deduct then that as the project is right now, it's rather boring to play. Nothing new and shocking there because it's a project, not a finished product.

But it's what thsi technology could possibly do, imagine being able to look around corners by moving your head to the left and shouting at the NPCs to surrender. Actually standing their being the one on that corner would make you feel like your really their. This technology might never reach the level Molyneux desires but what they do get out of it could be useful for other xbox exclusives.

Some of you might strongly dislike Sony but it's not as if they are making babies cry. Making consoles is an expensive business and as Sony now knows aswell, without a big marketshare it's not easy either. Neither Microsoft or Sony's latest console could be considered a huge success, not because they are bad products but because they are in each others way. Next generation gives all three console makers a new shot at the title but now that all three are famous we won't be seeing a huge winner like the PS2 any time soon.

So even though Microsoft and Sony don't really need each other, teaming up would be a win-win situation. Both of them would only have to make half the usual investment but in this case 1 + 1 = 3 as the combination would result into games like Halo and Killzone being exclusive to one console. Together they might even get PC/Console titles such as The Elder Scrolls to become exclusive. Their combined marketshare wouldn't be 50% like in this generation but much higher so it's a win-win situation for them and for us the gamer.

If Natal works then there are plenty of games it could work for. But what developers should look out for is that if they can't find any use for it then don't use it! That's why (for me) the Wii failed, developers have to use the Wii-mote and often decide to not make anything for it at all as they know many Wii-owners dont have a regular controller. As for Natal, interactive storytelling games would reach new levels, imagine a horrorgame where it's really you walking through the halls, it would feel far more intense. Or what about a shooter? Being able to look around corners by moving your head. You wold eb far more aware of yor surroundings and movements the you normally would.

But that's IF it works. I have no doubt that it could lead to better sport games then the wii-mote as basic extreem movements aren't hard to capture. But interesting concepts require amore accurate meassurement of movements AND voice recognision. The last has never been done right, especially with registering emotions and the first seems to only work in the ''vision'' clip that wasnt real. So if in 1-2 years Natal does what it promises then it's goign to blow us all away but it's a promise of something that seems futuristic right now. I don't see why it would or could work.

Depends on what mood I'm in, but overall I have to say Oblivion because of the quality/quantity relations (both are extreemly high). Mass Effect is a close runner up but there isn't a lot of quantity even though the interactive storyline is above almost everything else on any console right now.

All my xbox games are now BC', from what I understand they stopped as soon as all bestsellers and highly regarded games were BC. Some games that aren't either of those also got backward compatible because the same emulator used for a bestseller also worked for this title (for example: Barbie horse adventures).

It's not true, last year there were tons fo these lists of which some more realistic then this one and all of them were false at the end. This list is exacly what people want to see, nothing more and nothing less. You can be sure that Microsoft will fill of their presentation with useless stuff aswell like the new arcade line-up and new avatar features.

This gen: Mass Effect, no doubt.

Last gen: Morrowind

What's up with the FO3's and Fable 2's?? Their stories weren't really inspired, they mostly were second to the gameplay. Especially Fable 2's story was almost unnoticable because they were more like seperate cliché events with no real ending to them. As for FO3, I know Bethesda can make good stories, the background stories in Morrowind and Oblivion and the atmospheric plot of Morrowind proved it. But for FO3 they seemed to really want to make a Fallout game so they were inspired witht he world, gameplay and side quests but the main plot seemed to be just their because it's compulsory.
