I'm not saying that it's more mainstream then the Wii but it does seem it has less hardcore fans (note I didn't say gamers) then the Wii and PS3. On forums like here at gamespot or at VGchartz 360 seems to be underrepresented. And I know that 360 doesnt have less gamers and not just from the console sales, on newssites and other sites that moderate gamers visit the responses are usually more positive towards the 360. While here and especially on VGchartz the 360 appears to have less support then the other consoles in topics. The 360 also wins more prices such as best console at mainstream events, usually by vote but notin polls on gaming sites.I'm wondering why this is and if other people have noticed it aswell.

I have a theory that most 360 gamers are too busy doing other things then to hang around forums (including gaming) while the hardcore base behind the Wii and PS3 consists out of mature Nintendo and Sony fans that have been hardcore supporters fora decade. Anyone else noticed this? And if so do you think it's a good or bad thing?

Xbox 360 Less hardcore....than Wii? A console that prides itself on farries? Wow.......Logan1616

The Wii is more mainstream but as I said at the same time they got a hardcore fanbase that loved Nintendo since the Zelda and Mario days.

360 fans actually enjoy their console of choice and don't feel the need to spread propaganda to anyone willing to listen or read.

First off, The 360 less hardcore than the Wii? I don't recall seeing Baby Party 2 on the 360. The 360 less hardcore than the PS3? They are essentially the same, obviously fanboys will argue one side is more 'hardcore' than the other but if you look at their library of games, it's all the same. Secondly, Lack of hardcore 360 gamers on this website? Geez you should be here for the flurry of Halo/Gears threads, not to mention multiplats like Call of Duty. Trust, there are hardcore 360 gamers on these forums, whether or not they choose to post is the real question.

I think it's more hardcore than the Wii, but not the PS3. But I'm not too hardcore so I like the PS3.

i kind of get what your saying. your saying because nintindo has been around forever, the Wii has more hardcore fans because nintindo and sony have been a part of gamers lives forever, and MS is just getting into the gaming console thing recently so their fans are not as hardcore. but MS fans are Nintendo and sony fans because when they were kids they played nintendo and when they were teens they played sony and now they are adults they can pick what caters best to them and pick thier system. the only outlier here is kids these days. the crazy kids who are ultra fanboys will defend the system they have to the death cause most likely its the only one they ever had, or were old enough to appreciate

hardcore fanbase......but we have Halo....look at MLG, NOTHING, nothing, nothing without Halo....don't tell me we don't have Hardcore fans.... I can't even think of one M rated Wii game, only no more heroes, wasn't even that good....online component of most wii games, terrible compared to xbox live, best gaming service around.... Project Natal, was does Nintendo have? Wait....I'm sorry, you guys have a game that makes you exercise.....you got us beat there....Logan1616

I'm not talking about which console is the best or which has the best games (otherwise this would be in the flamewar section) but I'm talking about the support group. No doubt that 360 has a fair number of hardcore gamers, perhaps even more then the Wii or PS3 but I'm talking hardcore fans. People that live and breath Nintendo or Sony and not one of their games but the company itself. I'm not immediatly talking about fanboys here because these people can still be objective they just got a strong preference mostly due to the console's style.

Maybe it's just me but I can clearly see a difference in support around sites like this and more mainstream sites such as a gaming section of a newssite. Personally I think it's a good thing because those people are the fans of the future and you need to keep working on getting new hardcore supporters, not just mainstreamers that switch sides for the next shiny thing(read: eyetoy/wii-mote/Natal).

1. Having baby party2 doesn't mean you can't also have fans of a hardcore platform serie that's almost as old as gaming itself. The Wii has 50 million owners, sure most of them are mainstream but some (and I think more then the 360) are hardcore fans.

2. I'm not talking about the 360 and PS3 being the same, that has nothing to do with the hardcore fanbase. I'm saying that while both have similiar gamers the PS3 has oldschool Sony gamers that wouldnt get a 360 even if it had everything the PS3 had.

3. I'm not saying 360 doesn't have hardcore gamers, and yes, with big releases all of them show up. But I'm saying that overall Sony and Nintendo have more people that live and breath those companies. So that's more people that invest time in talking about it on sites like this.
