I still cannot believe that this is true.

If one of your add-ons for firefox is incompatible with a recent automatic update for the actual firefox browser that type of problem can happen. I've seen a lot of malware affect an ie browser but not an opera browser, or vice-versa. You could always try uninstalling Firefox from your control panel: add/remove (xp) programs & features (vista & 7) and then downloading the latest setup file for it and reinstalling and see if your problem is resolved. Of course, you probably want to run your anti-virus scanner with latest definition updates prior to that, just to make sure you don't have any malware on your hdd. Hope this helps.

Like the previous user stated, turn on DHCP by logging into your router. To do that open up a console window (Hold your Windows Logo Key & Press R and type in cmd and then press Enter). From here type in ipconfig and press enter. The gateway address listed is your router's IP address. Type that number behind http:// in your web browser, ie. http://192.168.8.1 ) and enter your username and password. Default is often admin for u/n and password for p/w (depends on router). Once in here you can setup your security settings (preferrably WPA2) and enable DHCP.

If you're upgrading from an 8600GTX, going to a 9600 isn't a major upgrade. You'll notice some improvements in frame rate, but if you want a real solid upgrade, you're definitely going to want to go for the major improvement of the 9800. The differences between the two are quite large.

SATA was a huge improvement over PATA. More space in the case is always a nice plus due to the smaller cables and hot swapping is a nice bonus too. All that and faster speeds has made the ATA drives obsolete. 12% of the internal drives on newegg are ATA while 67% are SATA with the remaining 21% being SCSI. Serial was a huge improvement over the older parallel ATA interfaces as the serial mode allows for simultaneous data transfer. PCI-E 2.0 doesn't have that type of improvement over a PCI-E 1.x interface.

If you're running a torrent type software, you're uploading and perhaps doing a lot of downloading as well on a consistent basis. This is bandwith that your connection is losing for other stuff like streaming videos, etc. etc. Try either closing the torrent software or limiting your upload/download speed in the torrent software.

Corenz, I believe it's : It's hard being humble when you're perfect in every way. LOL, anyways no offense by that, but if you're claiming perfection at least get your grammar right. You of course will see improvement gains in performance when installing an extra 2 sticks of memory and you can just throw an extra hdd in without needing to install your OS on it. See suffolk757.com for an article I wrote about increasing PC performance by using an extra hard disk drive as your source for your OS's swap file. If you want to replace your current hdd, use drive image xml to clone your first hdd. Cheers mate!

Not unless you're sure it's the culprit. There is a valid rundll32.exe file that is part of the Windows OS. However, lots of times malware will masquerade as the rundll32.exe file.

Try this: If the malware that's popping up on your desktop is called Messupurpc, open task manager, it will likely be a running app: right click that app and go to process. Then end the process tree. If rundll32.exe happened to be part of it, then end it. Otherwise, leave it be. Hope that helps.

Bios Man.com

I'm sorry to hear about that. Nothing worse than a halfway programmed BIOS chip. Buy a replacement BIOS chip, it's cheaper than buying a new board. As far as any other fixes, I'm sorry, but I don't believe there are any.

Go into task manager while the proggie is up and running that is the malware and then right click and select go to process. Then select kill the process tree. Then run your virus scan with the newest def. files. Or just run your virus scan in safe mode. You might also want to run hijackthis from Trend Micro after all that is said and done and clean up any weird looking entries it finds. Those desktop viruses are nasty, combofix.exe does a good job of getting rid of them if your virus scan doesn't. Just google it. If it's a been a while since a format, this might be a good excuse.
