Generic fetch/kill subquests, especially when they make up a large bulk of the content.

Overuse of minigames, or a game making them essential for progression.

More of the same sequels to games I've already played through.

Bad loading times and frustrating save/checkpoint systems... when the two are combined it can be infuriating.

I prefer physical copy, unless the download is relatively small. I don't have an amazing Internet connection and there's a bandwidth limit on it (not sure how much but it's enough without going crazy).

Max Payne 3 and Skyrim.

Occasionally play a bit of FIFA 13 and NBA 2K12 too.

None - I'm using most of the remainder of the year to get through some of my backlog.

The only game left this year I'm likely to get is Dishonored, but I'll wait for christmas for that due to the above.

I've noticed a lot of gamers on the Internet don't just use review scores as a rough indication of how good a game is, but actually get personally offended when a reviewer doesn't give them a high enough (or low enough) score to match their tastes, as if they're just looking for professional critics to validate their own opinion.

It's quite sad really. They're not there to appease fanboys, they're supposed to give their own honest and balanced judgement of the game.

I notice Gamespot gets a lot of hate for their review scores, but personally I find them to be fair most of the time.

I don't see a point in restricting yourself like that when there's so many different genres doing good things at the moment. I love RPGs the most but if they were all I played I'd get sick of gaming and have to stop for a while, and miss out on loads of other good stuff.

Thing is it's not just exploiting Obsidian, it's exploiting the gamers who in some cases are donating generous amounts of money in good faith that the money (and resulting profits after release) is going entirely to Obsidian funding a project that both themselves and Obsidian want, under no profit-led terms of a major publisher.

I can understand them not naming and shaming though, it wouldn't be clever for them to burn bridges with publishers who own the IPs to many of the games they've made (and will hopefully continue to make).

I'll try and finish some games I'm currently on before the new game is released if I can, but that's about it.

I certainly wouldn't replay earlier games in the series first unless they're fairly short and its been a while and the storyline is important - I get franchise fatigue really easily, so I'm more likely to play games from a different genre.

Not really. There's still plenty of big budget games I do enjoy, and whilst I would rather not buy from the likes of EA or Activision, if they release a game that really appeals to me I wont deprive myself of it.

I don't think there's any developers I actively avoid, just major franchises that I have no interest in.

1. Lack of innovative new IPs from big budget companies

2. Restrictive and disruptive DRM

3. The demise of Japanese developers and publishers in making games with global appeal
