^^ Funny you say that about Neverwinter Nights. It's easy in my top 3 most played games ever, but I've only completed the main campaign once. I kept making new characters to the point I can't bear to see Act 1 ever again!

The spirit's willing the flesh is weak.

I buy games faster than I beat them.

I keep track of my backlog in a list including prioritizations. I think that speaks for itself.

I'm glad it's not just me that does this.

I wouldn't say JC2 is best in genre, although that's mostly for the non-sandbox elements. The story is pretty bland, and the main missions are ok but other games do it better.

The game is at its best outside missions when you play it as a pure sandbox game - this is where I actually find it more fun than any other open world game I've played. Other games have more depth, better atmosphere etc, but for pure arcadey fun, JC2 is excellent.

I agree that the difficulty bit should be more flexible.

The scoring system is fine though. .5 effectively gives us 20 scoring ratings to pick from, which is plenty. If you're finding too many games are around 9.0 or 9.5 then perhaps you've been too generous with some of your game ratings? Besides, I only take the user ratings with a pinch of salt - it's their thoughts and comments on the game I'm more interested in. Their ratings just lets me know in advance how much they like the game.

Psygnosis getting nailed again. Sad world it is. Though they haven't done much in the last years at all, I guess the talented people left long ago.Black_Knight_00

Yeah, I get the impression a lot of the damage was done when Sony bought Psygnosis as what used to be a very prolific studio went on to mostly just make Wipeout games, so as you say a lot of the creative talent had already probably left. Nonethless I was very sad about this news, I've got a lot of good memories playing their games, especially on PS1.

I'm playing Just Cause 2 at the moment and it's great fun. This is from someone that doesn't play many action games.

I wouldn't say it was dated really either - it's still work getting.

Well, to be fair, Mass Effect 1 did have more of an actual main plot than 2. Like 80% of ME2 was just doing busy-work.

Starshine_M2A2

90 percent of ME1's "content" including exploring barren boring planets and doing glorified fetch quests.

That is also entirely subjective.

To be fair they are both right. IMO the main story is much more interesting in ME1 and it has a more eventful main plot. However the rest of the content was mostly boring samey side quests on barren planets.

In ME2 the main story isn't as great but the character missions and side quests are far more varied and fun, and develop the lore of the series much better.

So far, no. I've only played LA Noire and The Walking Dead out of the ones I bought and I regret neither. I might not get much play out of Bioshock 2 or the Unreal pack, but they were cheap so I don't mind. My other new games I'm confident were great buys.

I think sometimes people put too much emphasis on playing every game in a series when usually the sequels are just more of the same and the storyline in the previous game isn't that important... however with Mass Effect it is essential.

If you don't play the ME series in the right order you're doing yourself an injustice. It's much better if you carry the same character across the 3 games too.

Really tempted by Spec Ops although I know I'm probably better off waiting till the christmas sales when it will be cheaper and my backlog is smaller...

PS1: FF7, FF9, Vagrant Story

PS2: FFXII, Silent Hill 2, Ico

PS3/X360: Uncharted 2, Dark Souls, Bioshock

That was tough, especially current gen as there's loads of great games I'm still playing and it's hard to judge what will stand the test of time.
