Do you think is better to concentrate on a video game genre or do you think is better to play all video game genres?

For example my favorite video game genre is action, do you think I should also play Adventure, Role-Playing, Strategy, Puzzle, Driving, Simulation, Sports, etc video game genres or should I continue playing my favorite video game genre which is action?

Thanks.

Here's a novel idea: Play what you like no matter what it is.

Just play what you like and if you start getting bored with that genre, then you'll naturally branch out into other ones. Personally I play racing sim's until I get bored with them, then I get into action/adventure games and RPG's, and after a while I start itchin' to get behind the wheel again.

Naw. As much as I love, say...JRPGs, that's not all I want to play. I want to branch out at least a little bit and experience some other types of games and storytelling. It would be boring playing only one genre. I mean, Imagine if you only focused on watching one type of movie, like romantic comedies. Oh god help you...

you can spend a majority of your time on one genre like for me that would be Jrpgs, but try a variety of them(playing Tekken, and Project Diva myself)...really, all you need to care about is what seems fun to you, and not to bother about balancing your time playing different genres

I don't see a point in restricting yourself like that when there's so many different genres doing good things at the moment. I love RPGs the most but if they were all I played I'd get sick of gaming and have to stop for a while, and miss out on loads of other good stuff.

I play everything as long as it's good and my backlog is beyond rediculous and growing.

So yeah I think one should expand their horizon and experience all great games, but be prepared for the consequences.

There simply aren't enough entries in my favorite genre to be able to play them full time. I love the melee action game- Batman: Arkham, Assassin's Creed, Captain Americ: Super Soldier... I just love getting up close and personal with my bad guys.

its an odd question to ask

you should play what you want...if all you want to play is one genre, who cares...its you playing it

Ofcourse not, without diversity you would get burned out in a matter of weeks.

I would have quit gaming into thinking that i've grown out of it, if i would have stuck to mainstream genres, let alone one mainstream genre.

I play whatever games I am interested in, whatever the genre. Doesn't matter to me as long as I have fun.

I would get bored with that pretty quickly. Variety is a good thing.

And there's pretty much the best answer. Just play what you enjoy playing.

Uh.. Just play games you find interesting and fun...

Why would you avoud games you want to play just because they're a different genre?

Most people have at least a few genres they like to play, even if they do have a favorite that they like more then any others. As many people have said, it's nice to have a variety of games to enjoy. So try other genres and see what you like.

Personally, RPG's are my favorite genre, but I also love some good action games. I also enjoy platformers, shooters, fighting games, and driving/racing games.

Why would you restrict yourself from playing great games in many different genre's ? The only thing i don't do is play 2 or more games from the same genre at the same time due to being confused with the button layouts from game to game. Reload in one game is throwing a nade in another for example and it annoys the hell out of me.

Playing only 1 genre will get old. I used to play on 1 genre (soccer) then I got bored of it, I played football then got tired of football, I tried hack 'n slash then FPS, then TPS ...
