Power-nerd justification for GOTY lol.

All of these GOTY things mean bugger all anyway. The term is thrown around so much that there are tons of games that are Game of the Year just depending on where you look.

Take the most popular, most polished, most fun game, that gives a lot of value to it's consumers and there you have a GoTY.

:D

@PaperthinTV @UKFX Yes, redundant for me, an way to go pointing out the Humble Bundle obvious.

Do bear in mind that many folks like myself have bought tons of games, so perhaps they could vary things a bit by putting other games on sale whilst keeping some of the popular ones in sale as well. Not exactly difficult to strike a balance now, is it?

HAHA, creepy Uncle Michael Jackson. Hit the nail on the head!

I didn't really think of Nintendo like that, but their games selection is horrendous. I never had a Wii or Wii U, but I did have a DS Lite and a 3DS XL... both of which ended up barely being used and eventually being sold. The main reason for this was the limited selection of games.

The best games out there were the Mario and Zelda games and the "adult" games were mostly puzzle, or were only good unless you owned a Circle Pad Pro, which defeated the point of a single analogue stick device with touch controls. It was shortly after I tried the Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate demo on 3DS that I decided there was no real point in having one, because although the game was awesome, it relied solely on 3rd party peripherals to make it good. After scouting future launch titles, I quickly looked to eBay and someone ended up with bargain.

Nintendo have been riding the Mario train far too long.

Where is the creativity?

Oh, don't get me started on the Nintendo e-Shop either.

Okay not paid, but why do you fail to publicly express the poor QA, the 2 patches on BF4 that did nothing, an the 5-6 weeks that BF4 has contained all the bugs it had when it was in that "beta".

EA lost money in the PC sector last year so it doesn't surprise me why such a greedy company (aka the Anti-Gamer a la EA) didn't provide official DICE servers for PC - something it has done for years in previous Battlefield games and something that continues to be done for consoles... just not PC.

The main thing is though, why the patches are taking so long and why over 1GB of patching has failed to fix a single issue out the many that have been around so long.

Paid by EA? Haha, just kidding, but seriously, it is evident there is less impact and care when it comes to PC gaming these days, especially when there are 4 consoles and most of Gamespot employees probably play primarily on them.

Funny the Skyrim DLC thing was mentioned, I've been barking on about that for months. Bunch of bastards @ Bethesda.

Nobody at Valve thought it was a good idea to change the timers on the featured page on the last day, so that it said "Sale Ends in xx:xx:xx instead of , NEW DEALS in xx:xx:xx" - That caught me out earlier this evening so the end result was that I missed the sale.

I think these sales are becoming redundant. Many of the awesome games have been on sale a ludicrous number of times, an with Humble Bundle around I get many games for even less than on Steam. :\

I've always said and it still applies. Micro-transactions are not the future, it is a business model. It is not a benefit to the gamer, it is a benefit to a business.

The standard selling of a full game and reasonably priced, but well tailored DLC is the best way to go about it. Prime example: Oblivion and its expansions and the following GOTY editions. It sold immensely well and went down as one of the best RPG experiences.

Please tell me what micro-transaction game of today has an equal experience for all, an a great sense of value? I don't think there are any, an no... comsetics do not apply.

There are zero pros to micro-transactions on a consumer level, but nothing but pros to that particular business model.

@Cashmoney007 I wouldn't blame DICE. I'd blame EA. EA are the money grabbing parenting company who are pretty much the anti-gamer in the industry. They pushed the release of BF4 early, even though it wasn't finished and was completely filled with bugs. They no doubt, pushed DICE to release an early build for player/server test load to hide the bugs and ensure that the game was out before Call of Duty just for the sake of money grabbing.

Let us not forgot that EA (aka money grabbing, anti-gamer) probably even told DICE not to bother with their own Official dedicated servers because the consumer and third parties would prop their own multiplayer services up - that is just incredibly wrong on so many levels and I am surprised nobody, including gamespot, has pointed this out. Hell, even DICE's test servers for R7 were hosted by i3d.

I won't buy another DICE game, not because the games are bug filled messes but because EA probably forcibly shorten the time DICE have to work on the project so they can undercut the release of other games which may potentially damage sales.

I kind of wish I got CoD Ghosts. Not played a CoD game in ages, but with the current state of BF4 and the attitude and secrecy put forth by EA, I kind of wish I'd put my money elsewhere. Some aspects of BF4 are so claustraphobic that it feels CoD-like anyway, the only difference being is that CoD probably works, whilst BF4... only sort of does.

To those reading this. When BF4 does work, I love it. It is a great game... just remember who the anti-gamer is. EA!!!

Oh yeah... ARMA 3. The bug fest I pre-ordered ages ago, was missing half its content on release and its static animation still makes me feel as if I'm playing with robot soldiers... but of course you were being sarcastic... right?
