As far as finances are concerned, there's no real point in buying a new console right now as neither console (imo) has any stellar launch titles that are exclusive to that console. I ended up buying a PS4 at launch but I really didn't need to. I just wanted the latest machine with slightly better graphics. Don't get me wrong...I'm very happy with my purchase....however it wasn't necessary.
Never felt GS's staff opinions being so irrelevant as in this feat... Best statement that of Chris: because job
I don't know why so many people are rushing to buy these consoles. There's no game on either platform that justifies the purchase of the console. I'm going to wait until Watch Dogs is released.
Well, I'm definitely getting PS4 after I get enough money for it.
Only buying a system for Madden games so going with cheapest one and thats the PS4. Everything else I'd rather play on my pc.
PS4!! no doubt about it, better ram ,more beautiful, free connection, faster blu ray and better exclusive games like beyond, uncharted, the last of us...LONG LIVE SONY!!!
I intend to get all of this generation's consoles, but like many people, I'm waiting for some more "must have" games to come out. My PC is my primary gaming machine and I spend a few hundred every few years to keep it able to run things at max settings. As for the Wii U, I'm still waiting for the next big Mario game in the 64, Sunshine, Galaxy line (3D World is not quite the same scope) or the next big Zelda game (that isn't a re-release). As for the PS4, it'll be my primary gaming machine for console exclusives and gaming with friends. I won't bother to get one until next March at the earliest though. The XBox One will be the last console I pick up after its exclusive library has built up a little. That could be a couple years away though.
Why would anyone sell a last gen console to purchase current gen? Especially when the launch lineups are weak for both PS4 and X180. Maybe after a year or two, once the glitches are fixed and worthwhile games release, it's PS4.
PS3 will be a treasured keepsake for me. KIllzone is the best looking launch game that truly looks 'next gen' imo. Dead Rising 3 and Ryse look like bargain bin pickups or quick renters from what I've seen. And Forza with those microtransactions are a no-go for me. Never had an interest in owning an Xbox although I do like the controller. I wanted to get the Xbox shaped, PS3 controller but couldn't get pass the USB dongle need to use it.
I'm really disappointed about Xbox One, I'm an Xbox 360 fan and I prefer 360 controller than PS3, and other things grater than PS3. But Now, It Seems PS4 is greater than Xbox One by a lot of things. So I'm turning to PS4. * Really Disappointed *
Until I see a game I simply must have, I'm not getting either console. Money is tight this year and my hard earn dollars are going to the first console that delivers. Eventually I'll get the other when they drop something worthwhile too.
aww if I was going to buy both I would just buy a PC for gaming... But if I would buy a XBOX ONE, PS4 has nothing new to offer...
Sony doesn't need strong launch titles to beat Xbox One, they are destroying XBO so far in numbers with just KZ and Knack lol.
I think as ever it once more comes down only to preference, I prefer the Xbox controller to the PS controller. I have the Xbox, but as with every generation I will eventually pick up the PS4, probably around summer or next Christmas depending on game releases/finances, I also have a laptop that plays most things I need to it, this whole thing of 'one is better than the other' - 'look at the specs' it doesn't really matter. The games themselves are made to be enjoyed on all platforms they are released for and that's what it comes down to. Which games you want to play, and how you're most comfortable playing those games.
For me it's PS4. I've been a Killzone fan since the first one and have played the three main games as well as the PSP and Vita spin-offs. The new one looks really awesome and I'm excited to be able to get it as my first PS4 game (KZ2 was my first PS3 game). I also like how PS+, while required for online play, is going to be supported across PS3, PS4, and Vita, which for me is a really great deal.
I have no doubt the Xbox One is also an awesome system, but going by PS3/360, I've been more of a fan of the PS3 exclusives and am expecting the PS4 to have the same sort of exclusives (two of my top RPGs this gen, Demon's Souls and Ni No Kuni, are on PS3 and I'm hoping the PS4 comes through with some top notch RPGs like those). Though, I will be a bit disappointed not being able to play the new Halo, I really liked what they did with Halo 4.
just got done playing phantasy star online for pc and tiberian sun. sold my past ps3 twice. i think im done with gaming for the most part.
Just got my PS4, is a gamers console, its fucking sick, best controller ever, glad i stuck with PlayStation
I did pre-order 3 PS4 so far , one for me, and 2 for my friends "as I am the domain expert as they see me in gaming :)" ... I am waiting for them to arrive
Best comment in this video, being all about the games and NOT the hardware. I agree in this respect and neither console right now really has anything on their immediate line up that catches my eye. Dead rising 3 maybe, but just not worth spending 500 bucks, to play 1 game. Waiting personally to see how the libraries expand in a couple months for each system.
If I get one, it'll be a Playstation 4. Why? Specs. Not games. Neither system has really developed their A games out right now, so why the hell rush to the store? But that one guy had a point: Nintendo beat both with their game line-up, mainly because Bethesda and Bungie are taking their sweet time with 2014 releases.
Aaron Sampson, you win the award for best T-Shirt at Gamespot!
Lol Chris Watters... "I bought both nextgen consoles.... because job. >.>"
I love how you presented this video - light hearted, everyone has their own views, no hurt feelings. Great stuff!
I love the xbox one. You trully feel like you are in front of a futuristic console. It has much better games so far than the PS4. I really got tired of the same experience and to me xbox one give me that. PS4 is noy much of a step forward apart from remote play with another device you also need to buy. It is awesome to drive in battlefield 4 and turn you head and you view in the game turns with you without needing to do it with at stick. It just feels natural, it is the future, it is the different console from previous generation to me.
I'm so much on the fence about getting one or the other that i'm just stuck in this limbo and have got none of them.
i will get wiiu just for the mario games and sonic world…. xbox1 i will get when it gets cheaper and probably when they release a slimmer model,… and ps4 i will get to be my main gaming console.
But as far games go, i guess this generation i will have my PC upgraded as much as i can. PC is the ultimate gaming unit, and you'll be always one generation ahead of the console generation. wiiu and xbox are mehh.. ps4 is OK… PC is wonderful.
Its funny really as i remember back in 1982-1983 i had a Commodore VIC-20 computer and i remember nagging my mum i wanted one and even back then these where £300 so when you lot start banging on about $100 here and there not much has really changed in all this time. And as for the fanboy stuff this was happening then too but it happened in the playground with real fists lol.
Paying fees to play online with your friends. Struggling to reach 1080p @ 60 fps. What the hell? No chance I will ever buy a next-gen console when the PC does everything they can do better faster and cheaper.
I got the PS4 first. I think that Sony is going to do very well this generation. Launch games are always mediocre, but Sonys first party studios are some of the best, and I know they'll make some awesome stuff. Also, specs do matter, and having the faster DDR5 Ram and better GPU will be an advantage down the road when third parties learn the hardware of both machines. Ill get the X1 some next year. I like Xbox, (have been an Xbox owner 10 years), but I don't like Kinect being mandatory with every system. Its buggy and stupid, just like the one editor said.
@victor_martin12 Faster Blu-ray ... ?
@d_kell411 I can't wait to see Fallout 4 and Elder Scrolls 6 on next gen. I would probably buy a PS4 if either one came out.
I have the Ps4 and wow it works fast. Trophies synced with no problem. You can access the PS Store quicker and easier than ever before. The controller is so much better than the Dualshock 3. I'm a ps guy mainly but the Xbox 360 controller was one of my favs. The Dualshock 4 is pretty close if not better than the 360 controller in my opinion. I can't speak on the camera since I do t have it. But I have watched peopl live stream their games and I enjoy it a lot. It's great because I see real people playing a game and reviewing their honest opinion on it while showing some tips and cool stuff. It streams really well too. Games look amazing. You get 5 free games if you have ps plus right off the bat. Resogun, Warframe, Blacklight Retribution, Contrast, and DC Universe online. I have all of that plus Knack and Assassins Creed Black Flag. Both really fun games that I constantly play. Obviously Entertainment wise you have Netflix, Epix, Hulu Plus, Crunchyroll (Anime), and soon the IGN app. The Playstation App is great too. When my ps4 is in standby mode I wake up and turn on the PS4 from my phone when I'm upstairs. (Ps4 is in the living room) PS4 is really quiet too. Great system all around. Ultimately the choice is yours.
I totally agree with you, except the part where the PC is better.
@conorhat I wouldn't say the PC does everything they can do. It's far from the same experience. A PC is a pain in the ass in a lot of ways... sometimes I just wanna say "f**k it, lets grab beers and play Halo".
@conorhat Yes for people who have all the time to bang their PC, been there done that, now I prefer to sit on a lazyboy playing my console game on a 60inch LED TV connected to 7.2 HiFi surround sound system.
@conorhat good luck playing the exclusives on a PC.. say halo, GoW, metal gear, mario, etc. But i get what you say. I also support PC. But there are some games that just can't be played in a PC sometimes.
sonys first party games are crap, they're last place with the wii u being first, xbox coming in second. Your opinion is your opinion and mine is mine but most people will agree with me over you. For the second part, I don't think specs matter much, especially when the PC is like so far ahead of either consoles, it doesn't even matter who is second place. If you care about specs, it all about the PC. The one thing that you didnt say that will help out sony in doing well is that it is cheaper than the xbox.
@ChiefFreeman I got Xone on launch but i 100% agree on the Kinect statement as they have still not made anything that would make any gamer go (OH GOT TO HAVE THAT GAME). But we can hope.
@Shooter747 @conorhat Is this a serious response? Why go for inferior quality when you've got a setup like that. I'm a detail nut, 2500$ surround system, top of the line 4k TV, etc. And the next gen consoles can't even play 4k, not to mention the huge loss of rendering detail! You can only do that with a serious PC
I can understand people with a budget wanting to go for consoles, but a serious setup like that preferring consoles? That's just crazy. Do you also run VCRs on that setup? Just as crazy.
Chief that could be one of the stupidest comments I think I have ever read on this site! MS first party is so far behind Sony and Nintendo that its not even funny. Can't you recall the underwhelming milking that was gears / halo / forza for 6 years straight? And gears wasn't even made by a 1st party! If you seriously believe MS support gamers with better first party games than Sony you are the blindest of the blind fanboys and should quit gaming and just take up felating MS full time.
