PS3 has WiFi. So I didn't have to make an internet connection through my house and to my room.(Costs more than a game)Â
PS3 can play Hi-Def movies.
SirisKurt
Don't need nor do I want WiFi at this point. I live in an apartment complex where I bet 33% of the people have free cable and I know a few who use other people wifi networks. Sure you can password protect it, but why do i need wifi? I am not networking 5 different things together and my video game systems and computers are all along the same wall. And the ONLY difference in "high def" movies is the blu-ray player, which isn't a common technology yet so NOTHING IS GEARD TOWARDS IT!
PS3 can download movies on the web and to the console. In turn, It makes it a better source than the XBL store. I have plenty of music videos on mine.
SirisKurt
better? Examples.... XBL destroys Sony's online everything. Not even a comparison here. Why do you want to play music video's through your gaming console anyway?
PS3 has rechargable controllers(Motion Sensors too) and a cord to recharge it.
SirisKurt
Xbox has a rechargable battery pack or you can buy rechargeable batteries if you are that cheap. Plus Sony came up lame with the bluetooth.
PS3 has PSN. Free online gaming. Also is creating Home.
SirisKurt
PSN NEEDS to be free because it isn't deep enough and the servers need improving big time. The quality and consistency of PSN isn't even a quarter of what XBL provides.
PS3 is Bluetooth and USB compatible. So you can use that old mic for your computer or your phone for gaming online. Even those USB keyboards and mice.
SirisKurt
I don't use my computer for gaming so it doen't matter, however everything you mention, Xbox provides. In fact, the wireless controller is windows compatible.
It plays old games.
SirisKurt
So does the 360 but who cares. I biought the new system so I can play new games.
For the $600-
Compatible with some memory cards. Making it a port for music, photos, and videos. Or even a backup file. Save your games on your computer for more room.
60 Gig Hard Drive.
Â
Compared to 360:Lets just start off with accessories to make it somewhat like PS3($600) out of the box(Using BestBuy.com with a search for official Microsoft products)
You're at least going to play this thing for 2 year. So +$100 for XBL(Plus 2 months because apparently microsoft feels special right now)
Rechargable controller +$32
If you have a mic for PS3 available +$20 for wired or +$60 for wireless
If you want a wireless connection, +$100
If you want HD-DVD, +$200
Prices go to $300,$400, or $480 for 360
The accessories alone add up to $432 without a mic.
With most functionality-
$732 for no HDD
$832 for 40 Gigs less than PS3
$912 for 60 Gigs more than PS3
The Gigs are a bit ridiculous. But for $770 I can buy a PS3 and a SATA HDD for PS3 with 160 Gigs.
Cheap Gaming goes to 360 for the $300 model, but PS3 can have a lot more value. It depends on what you want.

That's great for a person who needs it but do a side by side of the games that the consoles share and please explain why 3/4 are better on the 360? Please tell the average gamer who uses his console for games and xbox live and nothing else why they should spend an extra $200 getting bells and whistles that are 5 years away from being the norm? By then, Microsoft will have their next system out.
I love how people want to push the same reasons down peoples throats. I remember when the original XBOX came out and everyone was trying to justify the xbox as being better than the PS2 and it made me laugh. The same thing in this scenario. Excep this time the companies have flip flopped. I owned a PS3 for about 3 weeks... sent it back in, got it replaced. Even when working properly, frame rate issues and less-quality gameplay provides you with a weaker experience no matterhow much "potential" a system has. The PS3 is this generations sega saturn.
