Have you guys noticed that worms is a complete rip-off from that online game called gunbound? i just saw worms in gameplay and even though i loved gunbound a cpl years back, wow, this is an EXACT clone. I'm a little upset cuz i heard all this hype for Worms to find out it's this? w/e, i guess not all games can b original.

for those of you who have never heard of gunbound: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyKQIgE139I

and gunbound could not have possibly copied worms cuz gunbound has been around for years.

Never heard of Gunbound, was it a ripoff of Scorched Earth? That's basically all Worms is, it's just cartoony and has a sense of humor.

how many years? worms has been around for many years as well, appearing on ps1.   im talking about worms: armaggedon and im sure there was 1 or 2 titles b4 that.

and who cares, if you like gunbound you'll like worms as well.  games take inspiration and good things from other games and incorporate them into their own.  sure it looks almost exactly the same, but if i were the developers of whichever came first i'd feel flattered that they liked the game soo much.  also who made gunbound? maybe its the same developer, or maybe its just a mod or something.   i dunno

Worms was around long before gunbound dude. The first worms game came out in 1994, while the company that developed gunbound didn't even exist until 2001. I think you have it backwards.

its alright i wasnt trying to yell at you or make you sound stupid.  i just havent heard of gunbound so i had to use the right words so i didnt make myself sound like i knew what i was talking about when i didnt.  i just knew worms has been around for along time.  worms has wind, no vehicles though but awesome weapons, not really any power ups though that i remember, maybe 1 or 2 though.  oh you can also have different audio or w/e (word escapes me at the moment) for your worms.  like german, cowboy, alien, hippy, and many many others.  they are pretty funny.

worms is a great game, i just hope XBLA does a good job on it.  i cant stand playing contra or paperboy, i dont think they did a good job on them.  thank god for demos, woulda been money wasted.

Haha, gunbound totally ripped off worms. Worms was the original. I used to play gunbound, It was good, but worms has always been better. Even on the gunbound website they stated that gunbound is alot like Worms and that if you ever played worms, then you'll have a good feeling for gunbound.

Yo, Worms ripped off Gunbound, which ripped off Scorched Earth, which ripped off Return Fire, which ripped off Syndicate Wars, which I'm pretty dang sure ripped off

Kabuki Warriors.

I don't know nuthin' 'bout nuthin' 'cept the word on the street is everybody who's anybody is down with a pimp named Silky.

BTW, worst topic and thread ever.

EDIT: Tell me something good.  Is this game worthwhile?  I want to get a fun XBL arcade game.

Exactly....Worms is ancient.

But it IS kindof a ripoff of that old Gorillas Q-BASIC game where you throw exploding bananas at each other. Can I get a witness? That game was the bomb!

You could also make an argument for ripping off Human Cannonball for Atari 2600... but that's a little different because you shot the man into a basket. So it's sortof like the "Breakout" to Gorillas's "Pong"... so Gorillas is more like it.

Generic_Dude : i agree... way back in elementary/middle school (wow its been a long time) my friends and i used to play gorillas all the time (well that and the original oregon trail)... type in the power... type in the angle... and watch as your magic banana destroyed the other "gorilla" or any building that got in the way.... i will have to say that once tank wars came out though, it made me almost completely forget about gorillas

Was Tank Wars the one where you picked angle/power and chose from like 10 different weapons to fire, like lasers, nukes, shotgun shells?  That had to be the simplest, cheesiest game, and yet I played it for like 2 hours every night.

Hey, don't forget Artillery (1983) for the C64 ;)biosc1
All hail the Commodore 64.  If it wasn't for space issues (that thing took up like half a room when you had multiple  51/4 drives, printer, etc.), I would probably still play that thing.  Red Storm Rising was a deeply satisfying experience.  So was Racing Destruction Set, Summer Games, Wasteland, Ultima, etc. etc.  Is there a C64 forum here?  Remember the days of 1200 baud modems and 20MB hard drives that cost like $500?  If you've forgotten, you probably don't want to remember.

If you've forgotten, you probably don't want to remember.ACESandElGHTS
Ah, yes, pirating off of bbs' in the day at 1200 (or 900 :p ) baud. I remember selecting a game to dl and then heading outdoors to "hackey sack" for a few hours waiting for the game to download.
anybody heard of canon fodder? bet that game was around way before any of theseibanezdropd
Nah, Cannon Fodder has no similarity, if I recall. At least Cannon Fodder (going of the Jag version) relied on directing a squad of men in an overhead view. It wasn't a turn based affair.
