@djpetitte *Connection failure* *Woman's voice from Xbox* You have three seconds to re-establish connection. Failure to do so will result in Xbox self destruct, any resulting damage to your living room is liable by the user and Microsoft indemnifies itself. You have been warned. Three, two, on-....* BOOM!

I just hope they don't make me kick zombies in the face ten times just to kill one.

@tim1935 38 Studios didn't sell enough copies to pay their loan back. The game didn't perform well enough to clear the loan so they then would have to make a second game to pay the loan back, however to make a second game they would need another loan. So if you look at it like that 38 Studios got caught in a borrow and spend black hole. There was no way out for them and in some instances the founders and managers knew it was coming but continued to push forward. In some ways Amalur just wasn't meant to happen.

This situation is entirely disgusting in a sense. I feel for the people of RI, their state has been taken advantage of. The reason the state is defaulting is mainly because they need their money back and lets face it, 38 Studios doesn't have a dime in assets to auction of in reality. Amalur was an interesting game to say the least, I enjoyed it but the truth is it didn't live up to expectations and no one wants to buy a B(+ish) IP and nor would the buy it for 100 million dollars (ok wait Dr. Evil might if only he thought he could brain wash gamers into doing his bidding).

I hope that Curt and other Studio 38 big wigs go to jail for the failure they have committed and the massive loss both to the state and the insurance company.

I got the game on PS3 and I've been enjoying it quite a bit. I agree with many of the points brought up in the article but I would highly recommend the game to anyone who likes the idea of an MMOFPS but doesn't like the competitive nature of many of them. If you want a co-op MMOFPS this is probably a game you'll want to check out. I personally loved the idea of Planetside but I couldn't get into it because far to many players on there were just way to good and killed me way to quickly. I didn't enjoy the competitive feel but Defiance gives me exactly what I've always wanted from an MMOFPS, shooter feel with co-op focus. For the first time since I was a teenager back in the late 90s I'm scoring 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places on a FPS leader board which to me is awesome and makes me return for more every time I have game time.

Great story. I agree it seems shocking that Microsoft could be so far removed from their customers but then again it's not like they'd be the first mega-corporation to completely lose touch. I wouldn't be surprised either way. Microsoft could come out in May and say "hey all those rumors were just plain wrong, our system is awesome and has all the features you want," or they could say "#dealwithit, is our new motto, so yah deal with it, we rock," in which case they wouldn't rock and PS4 will likely dominate the next generation followed by PC and the Wii U. :p

Square-Enix just didn't release anything I was interested so that's why I didn't buy their products this year. I'll be honest the games coming from their Japanese studios don't appeal to me these days and the American/European studios are just punching out action games, which I'll be honest there are more interesting IPs out there these days. Two of the three games listed above are old (and in my mind) stale IPs. Perhaps it's time for Square-Enix to think about something new.
