Aka Scooter. I like the idea of riding one, but it's not very practical in Los Angeles. It works better in European cities which tend to have more narrow and Vespa friendly streets.

The Black Dahlia is a good one. So much potential wasted with De Palma's ridiculously over-stylized direction.sammyjenkis898

It was a horrible balance. His stylized directing can work really well like in Phantom Of the Paradise which is so ridiculously colorful in a way that worked perfectly. Then there are other times where the balance doesn't work as well like in Snake Eyes.

I just watched 'Margin Call', it was very good but could have definitely been better if it was more focused on certain characters and developed them more. SaintLeonidas

Which character would did you want to see developed more? I can see what you mean. I think it's one of the best films of the year, but I wanted to see more about Stanley Tucci's character, and Demi Moore and Simon Baker's characters weren't as interesting as Kevin Spacey.

Meaning movies that had a lot of potential or an interesting idea but wasted it. Something like that.

The Black Dahlia- This film had a talented director Brian De Palma, and a story with a really interesting background. Unfortunately it was really dull with wooden acting. It looked great but the great ideas were just wasted.

Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy- I love the book series and this film had moments and a really good cast but it wasn't written very well.

Wolfman- Good special effects but the characters well boring and the story didn't work very well. Especially the lifeless love story.

The Golden Compass- I really enjoyed the book series, but this adaptation wasn't very good.

I am legend- A fantastic book ruined by awful effects, and a screwed up ending. The alternative ending is better but it doesnt make the film much better.

Have you read the book?

GreySeal9

A while ago back in high school. I am planning on re reading it soon once I'm done with the book I'm reading. The 2011 version is definitely one of the best adaptations. I remember enjoying the book though not as much as a couple other books I read back then.

Will have to go see it. I found alot of the issues the book present to be compelling.

There was also a very good adaptation of the book in 1983. It was a mini series I think and it had Timothy Dalton.

For best picture I would like to see Take Shelter win best picture. It's a terrific film. Best actor wise I think Brendan Gleeson for The Guard, Michael Shannon for Take Shelter, Woody Harrelson for Rampart, and Joseph Gordon Levitt for 50/50 would be my main choices. Actress wise I think Vera Farmiga for Higher Ground would be my main choices. She was fantastic and the film portrayed a religous character with depth for once. Saoirise Ronan was great in Hanna too, and Mia Wasikowska for Jane Eyre was quite good too.

I actually liked Quantom of Solace despite it's convoluted plot. Daniel Craig is a great Bond. He reminds me of the Bond I remember from the books. He is also a bit similar to Timothy Dalton in how cold he is. I am one of the few who thinks Dalton was a great bond though. The gadgets in the Brosnan movies were getting silly. I don't mind that usually, but you can't just have campy bond. It's good to mix it up with rough Bond. He is meant to be a ruthless yet suave killer anyway, at least he was in the books.

I don't really pay attention to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but there are some odd choices in there. Laura Nyro is a fantastic singer songwriter but I don't know anyone who knows her so I don't see her getting in. I would love to see The Small Faces get in though. They were one of the most underrated bands of the 60's. The other choices are interesting. I am not a fan of Guns & Roses, or Red Hot Chili Peppers but I can see why they would get in. The Cure are a great band so I would like to see them get in.
