Aka Scooter. I like the idea of riding one, but it's not very practical in Los Angeles. It works better in European cities which tend to have more narrow and Vespa friendly streets.

I would never ever buy one. I'm getting a Kawasaki Ninja 250 in a year and can't treat them seriously. You might want to think of getting a motorbike?

I dont think I could ride a motorbike. Scooters seem a big more manageable. I can see a scooter being useful in urban areas, but not in a city like L.A.
If you mean a push-along-with-your-foot scooter, then probably. As douchey as they look, they're really convienient to use when you can't drive.

Give it a go if you can. A large city like LA is great for bikes. A small 250 is pretty manageable. If you mean a push-along-with-your-foot scooter, then probably. As douchey as they look, they're really convienient to use when you can't drive.

Well I mean more of a motor scooter, like a vespa. A push along scooter can be quite nice too though.
Sounds like insecurities....I would never ever buy one. I'm getting a Kawasaki Ninja 250 in a year and can't treat them seriously. You might want to think of getting a motorbike?

Scooters would be good in some areas like Santa Monica, but not in some of the hilly areas. I can't imagine riding a scooter in the hills or in most parts of the San Fernando Valley.
I am not opossed to one, but it would not be practical where I live, in fact it would be impossible.
well no, but then again its a 30 minute drive into town for me. Even still I don't care for any sort of two wheeled vehicle.

I had one of them when I was ten! :-D
[QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"]Nope....not a European.BranKetraMy neighbor has one. She's from America. And? Still not really a viable vehicle for the US and frankly...they look silly.

The way you put it sounds as if you think only Europeans use them. That isn't the case. They do look silly, though.

If you visited...you'd change your mind.Hell, I'd do anything to get out of the state! :PNumbers. I doubt I've seen twenty riders.....LJS9502_basicThey aren't as popular as regular cars or even motorcycles. In total, I've seen quite a few. En masse, none except at the store.
He's saying they work better in Europe where everyone has to drive a little crap machine because the roads are 500 years old and are barely large enough to ride a bike down.Nice description of scooters. I haven't been to Europe, but I've seen the roads. They do seem smaller than U.S. roads. It's as if they were actually made with the pedestrian in mind.Pirate700
A lot of the roads in EU were made hundreds of years before cars/trucks were made so yes they were mainly designed for pedestrians and horses.Nice description of scooters. I rode one in India and it scared the **** out of me. Weaving between traffic, occasionally bursting forward, riding all those potholes... Man that was scary.
Anyways, after that debacle I swore to never ride a scooter again. So no, I would never ride a scooter again.
