Meaning movies that had a lot of potential or an interesting idea but wasted it. Something like that.

The Black Dahlia- This film had a talented director Brian De Palma, and a story with a really interesting background. Unfortunately it was really dull with wooden acting. It looked great but the great ideas were just wasted.

Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy- I love the book series and this film had moments and a really good cast but it wasn't written very well.

Wolfman- Good special effects but the characters well boring and the story didn't work very well. Especially the lifeless love story.

The Golden Compass- I really enjoyed the book series, but this adaptation wasn't very good.

I am legend- A fantastic book ruined by awful effects, and a screwed up ending. The alternative ending is better but it doesnt make the film much better.

Shutter Island, Inception, The Matrix, and The Rum Diary come to mind.

The Clash of the Titans remake. I put it on expecting copious amounts of action and I got garbage. The ending actually made me angry.

I just watched 'Margin Call', it was very good but could have definitely been better if it was more focused on certain characters and developed them more.

The Black Dahlia is a good one. So much potential wasted with De Palma's ridiculously over-stylized direction.

Which character would did you want to see developed more? I can see what you mean. I think it's one of the best films of the year, but I wanted to see more about Stanley Tucci's character, and Demi Moore and Simon Baker's characters weren't as interesting as Kevin Spacey.

It was a horrible balance. His stylized directing can work really well like in Phantom Of the Paradise which is so ridiculously colorful in a way that worked perfectly. Then there are other times where the balance doesn't work as well like in Snake Eyes.

I thought Kevin Spacey was the best developed of the bunch and his performance, along with Jeremy Irons was fantastic. I just wish that Tucci, Quinto (who gets a lot of quiet moments where he is in deep thought yet we have no idea what is going on in his head because we know nothing about him), Bettany (who I had love/hate feelings for, but what we do know about him don't make him worth liking, yet at the end it feels like that is what they wanted) also Demi Moore (who has that whole scene in the office and is given such a big task, yet again we know nothing about her and yet why should we care what she is feeling) all needed a bit more development, or a personal moment like Spacey and his dog so that they actually felt more human and not just there to talk.

Limitless - Good concept many plot holes. If your so smart, why don't you pay off your loan immediately. Murder was unexplained and didn't clarify how he survived in the end.

I will defend that film and Sofia Coppola until I'm dead. And even then I'll defend it.

Al Pacino gave a half assed effort. Not even close to the perfection that he did in Part II.

Forgettable characters and plot. Tom Hagen should've been in it.

And Sofia oh sweet Sofia. What was with the incest thing? That's what really sunk the movie.

The only, and I mean the ONLY scene that I truly liked was the final montage with Michael dancing with all the women from the movies and of course when he's sitting outside. A powerful scene really, too bad the rest of the movie was poor.

This year is easily The Green Lantern.

Overall would be Star Wars Episodes 1 and 2, nearly every horror remake, Jurassic Park 2 and 3, Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and 3, Spider Man 3, The Simpsons Movie, Hostel Part II, Saw after 3, 1st Harry Potter, just so many movies.

Interesting choice. Is it...
Because she totally should have died at the end? I always thought that too. A good film (imo) ruined by a cultural disinclination for sad endings at the time.
I think the Matrix sequels could have been something spectacular. As it was they really really weren't.

 • Superman: Returns.

After 15 or so years they decide to do a Superman movie, with modern day technology - yet still couldn't do anything original and just rehash material from the original 70s movie and crap all over it with boring melodrama, premise, and villain.

 • The Spirit.

If Eva Mendes wasn't in this movie I would've walked out about 20 minutes in...

 • Blade Trinity.

The first two were so good, why go for a more comedic route than continue with what worked? The story was good, but the delivery was horrendous. Too many side characters taking up screen time with over-the-top high tech gadgets and terrible one-liners. (A girl that's so bada$$ she listens to her ipod while killing vampires, yeah - okay...)
