a good example of a good game that doesnt need mp is mgs4 the story makes up for it which is why it got the scores it did. and an example of a great game with a not so good story but amazing mp is gears of war and halo 3.desyple

But MGS4 wasnt an FPS, and Im not one of those guys who gets anal when you talk about TPS in the same category of FPS. MGS4 just doesnt belong in this discussion at all.

I bought Gears for the SP, and I acutally enjoyed the story. Sure it was short and lacked some real depth, but it was still enjoyable.

An FPSRPG (Fallout 3, BioShock, SS2, etc.) obviously doesn't need multiplayer.

An FPS like Metroid Prime doesn't need multiplayer.

MetroidPrimePwn

Yet the only game you mentioned that is a true FPSRPG is Fallout 3. SS2 was more of a FPS Survival Horror, and Bioshock was a lame attempt to recreate SS2 in a different setting.

I think it depends on the game, and how fulfilling it is. The Half-life games and Metroid Prime games although lacking MP dont really leave you feeling like you wished you had more. Then you have games like Halo and Gears, and although I admit I do enjoy the SP version of Gears, I know that it was the MP that was its saving grace. It was obvious that those games were designed with MP in mind and it really shows. I think when it comes to games like Bioshock, a game that lacks any content at all, should have MP if theyre not going to give any SP incentive. Bioshock was a game that had no unlockable features, no extra skins, the gameplay was severely linear so there wasnt really any going back and looking for a different approach through different areas. There was no extra modes to play around with. The game had nothing but a SP campaign that can be completed in 6 hours.........8 if you take your time. Once you complete it, then what? Whats there to keep the average player, playing? Theres nothing.

So some games need MP to keep it going, and others can do fine without it. It all comes down to the game. Unfortunately with the direction the gaming industry is headed, all games are going to have MP forced into it in one way or another.

Once again the media is missing the point. For example, I found this link, wheres the option for stubborn stupid kid? Instead trying to place the focus on the wrong area, oh lets blame video games! Or lets say the parents are being irresponsible for trying to do the right thing. Yes they could have stopped him as he walked out of the door, but the kid is 15. 15 is the period of a kid's life where they resort to drama to get what they want. This is not the parents fault, and this sure as hell isnt the fault of the video game industry. If the tobacco industry cant be blamed for causing people to die from lung cancer then how can people actually try to say Video games was the cause for this kid to run away and get himself killed?

Its official that Ghostbusters is fine and rumored that Brutal Legend is fine as well.

VMan

Yeah thats what I was going to say. Ghostbusters got a pardon, and unless they announced something recently, they still plan on releasing it.

To answer your question; all you need is to have the person on your active team. You dont need to be playing as them when you talk to the NPC.

I dont think you HAVE to have the vita-chambers actually turned off. You just cannot use them on your playthrough on hard. I found turning the vita-chambers off made the experience a bit easier. There was no accidentally forgetting to reload a save after I died, plus it makes you want to save often. With the chambers turned off when you die, you get kicked back to the start screen.

Give the game a playthrough to get a feel for it, to figure out which plasmids and tonics work best for you. You could ask for people's opinions, but you'll just get 20 different responses that'll probably leave you even more confused. For example, I think Security Bullseye is one of the most worthless plasmids in the game shouldnt ever be touched. However I do know some people swear by it and dont like to run around without it. I think Target Dummy is a good plasmid to have in case you draw too much heat on you, I also think its a pivitol skill to have in the final boss fight. Others will disagree, and suggest you never touch it. So you see what I mean? Use the first playthrough to figure what best works for you.

The thing is, I think the hardest thing about playing through on hard is getting through the Medical Pavillion. Once you get to Arcadia the game gets slightly easier cause you have more weapons and more ADAM under your belt. Once you get about a quarter of the way through Fort Frolic the game really shouldnt offer too much of a challenge for you.

Thats the stupidest thing ive heard in a long time, and would be a huge disaster. Then again id be surprised if the series managed to live up to number 4 to begin with.GodModeEnabled

Well considering that "CoD6" is going to be made by Infinity Ward, I think its entirely possible for it to live up to 4.

I had the same thought about the Aurora units too. I have a feeling the next set of Metroid games will probably focus on how Mother Brain came to hate humans and how she claimed control over the Space Pirates.

The old 360 model had a 35-40% failure rate.

The new falcon model have a 10-13% failure rate.

So the chance for RR is still there, but its a drastically reduced chance of getting it. Like someone else said, there's still the 3 year warrenty that come standard with each new 360 incase your system does RR.

Im kinda in the same boat. Though my ultimate reason for not liking Oblivion was the leveling system. It didnt really bother me as much in Morrowind but for some reason in Oblivion I hated it and it really ruined the game for me. BTW Im not talking about level scaling, Im talking about the actual character leveling.

So people arent saying because Fable 2 only got a 8.5 that its a "flop"? Last I checked, here in SW flop always ment a pass because it didnt live up to the hype.

Hewkii

no, they aren't. look at the discussion thread, you have people saying "it's awesome, I wuv it, your opinions doesn't matter, and neither does Gamespot! who cares if it's a flop if I like it!", etc.

Actually they are, there wasnt an official thread, and I wasnt about to go digging through 20+ page threads to find the specific quotes where people were already calling it a flop. Fortunately someone made a thread and SW here on GS disgruntledly agree's the game flopped.

Though I am grateful that Kevin VanOrd didnt review it. Judging by the way he was talking about it on the hotspot, he probably would have given it a 7.
