Nah. Vehicle spam, huge amounts of spraying, slow gameplay, horizontal maps, lack of control options, limited movement and overall gameplay shallowness is what fits the console FPS genre best. That's what the audience wants (oh, and they also want pretty graphics and huuuuuuge amounts of hype). That's why Gears of War is so popular. There are reasons why Unreal Tournament, Quake 3, No One Lives Forever, Half-Life, etc. were mostly ignored by console gamers. Nah, if it hadn't been Halo, there would have been something else that would have created a similar effect.

Youre wrong, the reason these games were ignored by console players is because these games were crappy ports of the PC version and to top things off played like crap on the consoles.
Im all for the Halo has about as much depth as a toothpick argument. As well as Halo 2 and 3 are pretty much just a PvP MMOFPS. But Halo:CE was something special, it was unique and it was the type of kick in the pants that the console FPS genre needed. Before Halo:CE the only FPS game that didnt play like crap on a console was Goldeneye..........and possibly Perfect Dark. Halo:CE showed us just how a FPS should feel on the console, this game did to console FPS games, what the keyboard + mouse did for PC FPS games. The effect it had on the gaming industry was never about the mindless violence, it was about gameplay mechanics. It showed us, and more importantly other gaming companies how a FPS game should play with a dual analog controller with a limited number of buttons.
@ PlaWeird: Would you please put some more depth to your statments? Right now you have things spelled out for you and the only response we get out of you is "No, youre wrong". You say you do know what you are talking about, well then tell us. Give us proper examples of how WRPG's are nothing more than gun focused games. Youre judging an entire genre based on 2 games, yet you havent even told us which two games it was.
@ TriangleHard: The main difference between JRPG's and WRPG's is character development and character interaction. Yes the story telling is different too, but I would not go as far to say that JRPG's have better stories because WRPG's lack a proper storyline. Your comparisons to Shakespear and the Mona Lisa..............although rather pretenious if you ask me, is probably closer than you realize. A JRPG is really nothing more than playing an interactive storybook. Now I realize that this really applies to most games. This is where WRPG's try to differ, they try to make the player feel immersed in the gameplay. Instead of the usual you are this class, you can only use these weapons, you only get this 1 X skill at X level. This is probably why .hack was such a terrible game, it was a JPRG that tried to present itself as a WRPG but failed horribly. You see players like choice, they dont like to be force fed all the game information. Again I know nearly all the games out there are like this, however in JRPG's its a stronger feeling because thats what a JRPG is based on. Force feeding players pre-rendered information.
Look Im not here to criticize you on what you like or dont like. I like what I like and you like what you like, and Im happy to accept that. But this notion that JRPG's are for the more civilized, higher intelligant folk while WRPG's are more for the common man that is beneath you isnt gonna fly here.
[QUOTE="EvilAshTwin"]Off the top of my head right now; Lego Harry Potter.
you may comense with the laughing.
mushroom_kid
I'm surprised they havent made that already
If Lego Batman showed us one thing, its movie based Lego games do better than literary based Lego games. So while we wait for The Deathly Hallows to make its debue on the big screen Im sure we'll get Lego Lord of the Rings.
I would like to see a current gen Parasite Eve game.
A sequel to Oddworld: Strangers Wrath
The next GTA game to be written and produced by Quentin Tarantino.
Imagine the whining over online... "NO way that should have worked! the flash should be able to beat the hulk easily!!" :P

lol
"Robin and Jubile (Im aware I raped the spelling of her name) hooking up?!? WTF is the bile?!?"
Though I have to admit, I loved Darklaw, that was one bad mutha.......
While Marvel does have a larger cast of recognizable characters, a Marvel vs DC game would really come down to The Avengers + X-Men vs The JLA, which I think everyone knows who these guys are.
[QUOTE="clone01"]no kidding. its like a game is worthless here if it gets less than a 9.0.

You forgot that most games (here in SW) 9.0+ are labeled as overrated and overscored.
EvilAshTwin
those are both lies and you know it. it hasn't been remotely like that for a very long time, now people just ignore any sort of hype system and claim that reviewers are biased, and that no matter what it's a good game because "*I* think so."
Hasnt happened recently eh? So people arent saying because Fable 2 only got a 8.5 that its a "flop"? Last I checked, here in SW flop always ment a pass because it didnt live up to the hype.
The only reason youre right about the opposite (which is what I said) is because the only game that have gotten a 9+ lately was Deadspace. Everyone pretty much agree'd that it was a good game. But you wait a month, the PS3 owners are going to say Gears is overrated and overscored when it gets its AAA rating, and the 360 owners are going to say Resistance 2 is overscored and overrated when it gets a AAA rating.
[QUOTE="Haziqonfire"]System Wars way:
8.5 -- "FLOP", not worth your money. Only AAA games are allowed to be enjoyed here. Bad score.
9.0 -- "AMAZING!" totally worth it, good score. Worth your money and time.
Normal Way:
0.5 difference that doesnt even matter. Its the Text of the review that matters, not the score.
