" It doesn't make any sense, and subsequently feels like it's stealing from BioShock without understanding why such powers resonated so deeply in the first place."
I have taken this quote slightly out of context, as you said in regards to the vigors. However, this is how I feel about Infinite in general. I'm of the opinion that if the first Bioshock would have played like Infinite, the franchise would have never taken off. It would have been labeled as a very poor successor to System Shock. Thats exactly what Inifinite is, a poor follow up to a couple of games that have gotten better with age. This game tried to have all of the pizzazz of the originals, but has none of the substance.
As we look ahead to the upcoming DLC, what does Ken have in store for us? Harder (read: spongier) enemies, less resources, more emphasis on mid-combat resource scrounging, more emphasis on needing to use the resources that are now less common than they were in the core game (which is really saying something) oh and Elizabeth tosses you items mid-combat much less frequently (again, which is really saying something). Infinite and the DLC are being made by people who CLEARLY have no idea what they're doing. I think it's a disgrace because there was so much potential here that was so obviously wasted.
I'm pretty sure the effort as always been there. It's just becoming harder and harder for development companies to take shortcuts and find new ways to hide halfa$$'d areas of the game.
Oh also, it probably wouldn't be so hard if the major publishers didnt fire their dev staff everytime they completed a new game just so the publishing company can pocket more money.
@Suharar The problem is, you are only the second person I've actually seen bring this up. Everyone is only focusing on the misogyny just like she did. Not only that, but most of them responded in a very hateful way. Which is a shame, because, this is an argument I can get behind. When you put it like that, the dislike of the review becomes more apparent.
Another serious question. What makes GTA any different from Duke Nukem? Why is the misogyny in GTA acceptable but is an unacceptable travesty in Duke Nukem? The challenge of this question is you must answer it without bring up the review scores.
