Your OS was payed for long ago......just like my 360L1qu1dSword

However, 360 sales ALWAYS give a portion to MS, PC games do not unless MS directly publishes them.

Can't help but notice that most animosity on SW is between PS3 and 360. This is because the systems that are the most similar will compete most fiercly.

I agree that PC/360 exclusives are not the same as "true" exclusives but by virtue of that fact you cannot treat a title going to PC the same as a title going from PS3 to 360. You pretty much just proved my point.

L1qu1dSword

No, you are mixing and matching terms. Exclusive means exclusive, not 'unavailable on opponent console X'. These can help, but when you call them exclusive, you are simply wrong. They don't have the same marketing value to push your console as a true exclusive. You can call them what they are, but don't them exclusives!

[QUOTE="DerekLoffin"]No. Like it or not, the consoles DO compete with PCs. I know they certainly do for me. L1qu1dSword

If Windows and Xbox are owned by MS how exactly is this competion?

Because I don't pay anything to MS when I buy a game on PC. My OS is already paid for long ago, MS isn't getting any more money out of it. This also means they don't get me to buy a 360, losing them money.

Besides I never said that anyways. I said they do not compete in the same manner as PS3 and 360 do.

L1qu1dSword

Yippie, and Wii and 360 don't compete in the same way, neither do Wii and PS3, or PC and Wii, etc, etc. It's a empty consideration as they still don't have the same value as a true exclusive, and trying to make out like they do is just plain fanboyism.

I guess its cool for hating on things that are popular. Im not saying call of duty isnt but, its not as mainstream as halo. If it wasnt for the series, xbox 360 probably wouldnt even exist. so Halo 2>call of duty 2>halo 3>call of duty 4MRwhatsisname

Yeah, people do hate things that are popular, but there is one major flaw with this argument, COD4 sold MORE than Halo 3. In fact, it apparently holds the #1 position for the last year (Halo 3 was #2 as I recall).

I've played a lot of RPGs, and CT is still the one that gave me by far the most enjoyment. FF VI comes close, but not quite, and while I can respect many WRPGs, I find they lack staying power for me and devolve too quickly into grinds (just my personal oppinion for those that don't find that obvious).

Did they ever resolve that dispute over weather you can use the GH guitar with rockband on PS3? Or am I completely misremembering things.

It is not an argument genius. I am simply pointing out what a worthless and pointless statement you made. i.e. You know if there wasn't a Wii, more PS3's would have been sold. Ohh, we are on to something here in SW. Pure lunacy.

dhjohns

Not the same thing as what he was saying. He was refering to a future game dev that is considering multi vs single console development. Multi not only cost more, but does not guarantee extra sales as owners of multiple consoles would simply buy the same game on the other system, and even for single console owners, some of them even would buy the console for the game, so X figure sales on a game does not equate the amount of sales lost if that console did not feature that game.

[QUOTE="SambaLele"]Yes, it did help (it went from a 33% failure rate to a 16% one), but it didn't solve the problem. The problem is with the general design of the hardware, not the CPU itself, and the Falcon units only difference is the CPU and a new heatsink... to solve the problem they have to change a lot more things (mainly the GPU right now and the distribution of some components).DXGreat1_HGL

Wow, still making up failure rate numbers.

Honostly, a day in System Wars without a made up RROD story thread is like a day with out sunshine...

Actually, he didn't make them up, he just misapplied them. The 33% figure is early store manager estimates, while the 16% is from a recent survey. However, neither make any correlation to the type of chip in the system as I recall.

Does Falcon help, probably a little as it does reduce overall heat. Is that little enough to matter, who knows, but even if it doesn't it is still a major issue.

It's going to be a LONG while before DD replaces physical media. Exists along side it, sure, but replace it, nope. We've had DD for music for quite a while, and the CD are still being produced and sold, and the issues there are far smaller.

Well, here's hoping they improve the game play. BS was a pretty good game, but it mostly pretty good due to incredible presentation rather than being a great game. Fix that up and I'll be very happy.
