@naomha1: My guess is just gross incompetence on Google's part. It is nothing new for them. They have an all too common history of making mistakes, or just not addressing issues properly for very long periods of time. I suspect whatever techs they are dealing with them are treating this as a minor issue and just giving out the quick and dirty responses instead of actually doing the research to figure out what's wrong and/or elevating it to someone who can do the research.

Definitely wasn't my biggest complaint with the game, but high up there. The durability was indeed utter rubbish, and I've heard all the lame excuses for it, it is still utter rubbish.

I always compare it to the durability system in Muramasa the demon blade, where similarly your weapons break REALLY easily, but Muramasa did it WAY better. It rewarded your skill, still kept your sense of reward for acquiring a new blade, and had a far quicker and more elegant switching mechanic. It was just way better than the junk in BOTW. BOTW always felt like they didn't know how to do proper game balance so they'd just let the weapons break super easy and call it a day which not only didn't balance the game, but did all kinds of damage to the system.

@mogan: While that is certainly an interesting thought, beyond featuring guns and being the 1st person perspective, they couldn't be much different games. Doom was far more an action game with an incredibly fast pace, while SysShk was more a adventure game with a slow pace. Both were early examples in quite different generas that continue to this day with Doom being of course part of the simply FPS genera with the likes of COD and BF, where SysShk is more in the vein of our modern FP-RPGs (despite itself lacking any true RPG elements and RPGs generally spawned out of adventure) like Deus Ex and Dishonored.

Yep, just get the old GB game. Cheaper and better by the sounds of it.

Well, from playing what I can so far, its pretty good... but with one MASSIVE qualifier: It is broke currently!

Myself I'm experiencing games freezes that are so frequent that it has rendered the game unplayable. Reading the steam forum, I'm far from the only one having this issue, and issues actually get worse (some people can't even get the game to run).

So, if you are thinking about this expansion, be warned, you're taking a gamble currently on whether it will run properly or not. Hopefully we will see a stability patch, but no word as to such at this time.

Failing upwards, and otherwise being rewarded for failure, does seem to be a very odd but true thing that happens in top level management positions.

Yeah, it was an underwhelming conference, especially given the status they came in with. MS had to bring their A game here, and instead they brought their B game. It was a decent enough conference, but seriously lacking given all the hoopla over DRM and other issues that has been plaguing them. And, really, 499, seriously...

Well, any faith I had in MS not being totally idiotic is pretty much gone at this point. I will now find it surprising if the rumors are not true.
