Because the bigger titles still sell out at every location - no matter how many chains carry it.
By preordering the game it fully reserves your copy at launch - whether at midnight or the following day, you don't need to run around town hoping to find a last copy that got overlooked somewhere - you have the peace of mind knowing you have a copy when you want it.
So I would ask why wouldn't you pre-order ANY game that you know you will definitely want? It is easier and less hassle to do that. You just go to the store where you pre-ordered and leave 5 minutes later with the game you want in hand, guarenteed.
Plus occasionally you will get special offers that people who don't pre-order won't get.
I'm with ya man - with the PC you can essentially get the capabalities of a "next gen" console every 6 months (for a price). however... Lately my consoles have been getting more love - just because PC games are getting harder to find. This isn't adevelopment issue so much because the games are being made - stores just aren't stocking PC games like they used to.
It depends on what the DLC is. Game add on levels are definitely worth it IMO - stuff like "Bringing Down the Sky" for Mass Effect for example. However stupid stuff like clothes for your character is not worth it IMO. The nice thing about DLC is YOU get to pick and choose whether what you're buying is worth it to you.
GameCrazy or EBgames/GameStop for retailers. Craigslist for online sites.
With 7 games I would say an elite is right about in line with what you expect. Probably $300 to $350 - right in there depending on which 7 games you are selling with it.
