Ps1 games in the PSN store are 5.99 or 6 bucks, they work on all ps3's no need to worry but I would keep my ps2 with that model myself as well since it wont play anything but blu-rayErmachkoYeah, I figured that they'd be in that area. I was really curious about the PS2 mainly, I don't want to have to give up FFX anytime soon. I just want to wait and see if they put them up in the store before i trade everything in.
The 160GB system can NOT play PS2 games. If you want to play your PS2 games, keep your PS2 (and the games).
There are no PS2 games downloadable on the PSN and Sony has no plans to do so.
However, all PS3's can play PSOne games, whether they're the original disc or downloaded (for a fee) from the PSN.
Hope this helps!
Can't these PS3's play PS1 discs, though? Since they're basically the 40 gigs with larger harddrives? Because my 40 gig easily played MGS1.GodofBigMacsYes. this was already answered earlier in this thread. For the record, the PS2 is more compatible with PS1 games than the PS3 is, but that's kind of a given. Not sure of the percent difference in compatibility, though.
Well, that makes me quite sad. Oh well, thank you for the help. The 160GB system can NOT play PS2 games. If you want to play your PS2 games, keep your PS2 (and the games).

There's barely a difference. games that require special accessories need the controller adapter to work, but the majority of games work fine on a PS3, with the exceptoiin of a few titles here and there that have a few flaws. Even Spice World works on PS3 (a PS1 game not recognized by Gamespot, but I got from Blockbuster for 2 dollars).
