The overarching theme of survival/day to day living vs. civilization/living for a purpose is interesting to compare to Red Dead Redemption's theme of how the west had to adjust to civilization after living in a society more focused on the 'hunter gatherer' lifestyle. While both games had excellent protagonists that anchored their themes, they, in some respects, represent two sides of the argument of what civilization represents. To some it's a breeding ground for dishonesty and perpetuates all the flaws of humanity, and to others it's a beacon for humanity's greater purposes.
