i have a ati 5870 and its pretty damn good. Ati has the 6870 and its 230$ on newegg canada.

Lach0121

My gf runs a XFX HD6870 and it is pretty good especially for the price. I wouldn't count it out.

might want to take a look at the 1gb HD6950 as well, they should be below $300 (not sure when it comes out, but it shouldn't be too long).

yeah if the 6950 is worth the 70$ more go for it.

oh and if you make a desktop... espesialy if you OC (not expecting you to take my advice) dont cheapout on PSU. You CPU will most likly fry the PSU from consuming too much power than overheat. that can do some nasty things to your hardware. make sure your PSU is powerfull enough for all your hardware. Crossfire also is a huge power eater. I think 850w should do... but im pretty sure the PC you want needs a 1000w.

I agree that system is WAY overkill. The thing is with PCs is its never wise to buy the BEST thing. Itll loose so much value over so little time because newer stuff comes out... somtimes a better gpu will come out cheaper than the one you have. Its just a waste of money and it just doesnt look proffessional. Its iresponsible consumerism. its like you dont know what iphone to buy so you get the 32gb one because its more expensive... thus better? then you dont put any music, video or apps on it. its rediculous. a 1000$-1500$ is fine for MMOs even if im not too familiar with those you names. I own a MSI GX740 and its a brilliant system. it has 4gb DDR3, a Ati 5870 and a i5 2.1ghz or something similar... newer GX740s (mines really a E740 but newegg sold it too me as a GX740, i dont really get it) have i7s. they are 1.8ghz or so but they are fast as hell. I have a friend who was one in a Asus (same specs) model and he plays one of those MMOs you named. Runs perfectly. Even low ghz i7s trump, well... anything. im just suggesting one of those. save you money. i dont know what problems you have with laptops but you can always use it as a desktop if you connect it to a screen, mouse and keyboard. it doesnt defeat the purpose since it takes 2 seconds to grab it and go. also i find that laptops are generaly cheaper than custum built pcs and a little more optimized... thats just my view. you wont be able to OC but i dont see why you should... if you dont do work for NASA or something youll never need more horse power, to game anyway. and youll just mess up your expensive CPU, voiding the warrenty. dont OC. I lost a MSI wind and the computer in my banner OCing irresponsibly.

Yeah I don't see how it's possible to ban street racing games. Games are art, you can't ban art. If anything the government would go after fps games before street racing games...

JaredFrost95

no because its harder for a kid to go get a gun than it is to call up his friends for a street race.

Is it really? theres many households with easy access to weapons. finding an empty street is alot harder... besides no one is stupid enough to do anything close to 'real' street racing. Two cars draging done a road is way to obvious. people mostly just play around in parking lots or back roads which harms no one

and most people grew out of street racing ever since Fast and Furious stoped being good. Professional racing has a way bigger market

It would be easy to do, but no one would use it.

The Xbox 360 is simply a 4 year old good computer.......It wouldn't stand up with today's PC's except very cheap ones. So installing an OS on it is as simple as a Microsoft update, but it won't happen.

A. Everyone has PC's already

B. YOU CAN'T USE A MOUSE or Full-sized keyboard

Every game console especially the PS3 and 360 have their own OS of sorts. The PS3 and 360 are set up to act as much like media center's as possible and if there was a Windows 7 on the 360 it would have to be set up like a more simple media center OS. So really you already have it....it just doesn't look the same.

This would not be a selling point.

BrettFavor1185

your not looking at it the right way. Ading some contected tv funtionality should make it better. alot of them are already in our living rooms. so you wont have to buy a google or apple tv when they get big. I mean microsoft will want to get in on this market. making a new device is stupid. mod your existing tech that is already paid for and making millions.

the os too wouldnt be a version of windows 7. it would be app based and iinterfaced in pretty much the same way as the dashboard. It would not replace a computer, it would have similar funtionality to say a android tablet. it would make it a hell of a better media player. it would also get some pretty awesome third patry apps using kinect and the huge tv screen you have. i listed a few apps that would be cool in my post. also imagine chilling on gamespot reading articles or catching up on the local newspaper. Besides being a 4 year old computer, its standing up pretty well to the test of time. the release of kinect and a new version of the xbox shows it not only sells but it should last a long time... I mean the kinect didnt flop like the 32x did it? We've reached a point in consoles where its not about specs anymore since everyone claims that there shouldnt be another console generation for years.

as for input we have the kinect that just seems wasted the way it is. and hey a bluetooth keyboard on a newer model of xbox? or a wifi keyboard on the existing Xbox 2?

oh and the existance of this doesnt mean that the games will stop being made. i mean apple manages to creat great games and software for their devices and seriously i know a lot a people who use there xbox almost only as a media player.

that last part was a response to shark biscut. and yeah i tried connecting my laptop to my tv and its not good. its just not made for it... though im hoping to use that to game. Crysis on a laptop is mearly playable... with an xbox pad on my coutch? its awesome

Ok so would you like to see a tweaked windows on your xbox? Would it even work?

ok so we have windows phone 7 (which is pretty cool although im an android user and it doesnt appeal to me )and (i hope) a tablet version in development. Where then is windows xbox 7? I mean... is it that hard? Use a similar structure as phone 7, skin it like the xbox dashboard and release an app market. I mean im not buying a google box if my xbox already does most of that. Its the best freaking network media player on the market. I own a PS3 aswell and its troublesome, I also dont see Sony having the resources for something like this. But hey im beyond PS3 hating, I like renting blu-rays. It would be a killer feature that would sell even more xboxs bringing to the living room as more than a console, apealing to Wii and PS3 consumers. Its a logical busness plan.

Still i want a freaking app market on my console most of all. I want to read my pdfs on my tv, I want to make powerpoint presentations on my tv, i want a decent chat client, full facebook, an internet browser, youtube. and hell with kinect support, you would have the greatess computer exprience ever. people are hacking the kinect to do all kinds of stuff... microsoft made it that way... oh i see what you did there. testing the waters microsoft? seeing what people do with your awesome new hardware before painstakingly design a new OS. hoping to have a few apps for release? I'm not familiar with what media center can do but i dont want to have to use my laptop to run the system anymore.

Really BattleField bad company 2 wow i would of never thought that.

Yeah I was looking into Phenoms. AMDs never as fast as a Intel but its so much cheaper. As for the GPU I'd love to put a GPU thats worth more then my system so ill look into a 5770 and the 4890. I noticed that nVidia manufactors like XFX got some business with ATI. Hoping to find a deal on one of these for the lifetime warrenty.

As for the PC i got riped off about 4 years ago with a 1.8ghz p4, 512mb ram ddr 400, P4P800 and a ... FX 5600 ultra thats a Geforce not a Quadro. All that garbage for 700$ (canadian) . Now that might of been competitive for the time (im past caring) the socket 478 and agp mobo gave NO room to upgrade. try in what i have now and fried about 4 psu before i was allowed to buy a decent psu (i was out of a job so i had an insurance system worked out with my family, the buyer choses). Yeah since my car wasnt worth as much as i expected i have some money to spend on a good pc.
