[QUOTE="NeonNinja"]

Please tell me this isn't in response to the damn thread in the union. Because if it is, you're dead to me.

xXShortroundXx

Wasn't planning to use it for anything in the union :P I just wanted to see if the "majority of the fanbase" thinks ME3 is perfect like Lightwarrior said :D

BOO!!

Turns out Light did notice your thread on his feed and immediately knew what this little troll had in his mind. Sadly I don't think ME3 is a "perfect" game. Far from it. It has its own share of flaws -- some pretty big, frustrating and annoying. As an overall package,it ties with ME1 as the best in the series.

The only reason I give ME3 the edge in the ME1-ME3 tie is because ME3 sees the series fully realize its original vision. It finally achieved proper balance between its shooting and RPG mechanics while putting the decision-making aspect on a much higher regard (ME2 failed in this department) and the conflicts are more fleshed out.

I do find it funny you thought the best way to find what the "majority of the fanbase" thinks of ME3 was to post in System Wars. That's an irony of ironies if I ever saw one.

If you know Malick then you'll know he isn't the kind that makes his movies in haste and takes an awful amount of time in making one. Almost a decade since Thin Red Line until he finally came out with Tree of Life. Seeing how he's nearing 70, I don't think he has got a lot of movies in him. Which is why I'm hoping the Academy awards him Best Director not only because Tree of Life deserves it but also because they would indirectly award his entire body of work like they did when they awarded Scorsese and Danny Boyle for less-deserving movies.

As for Malick-like films, you can find slow direction and attention to subtle details in a couple of directors but his themes are a bit tougher to find. Haibane Renmei is the closest I can recall. An anime that is as slow and dreamy/surreal like many of his movies yet revolves around some of Malick's favourite themes.

Everyone has summed up exactly WHY the game has good combat. And that is a fact.

So,Shortie,we both are friends, so I'll be honest with you.You aren't that good a troll. Try something else next time. :P

Don't know why you'd be surprised by the milking of BlazBlue. Every fighter gets milked and Arc System is no exception to that. Just see what they did with Guilty Gear XX followed by Slash,Reload,Accent Core and Accent Core Plus. That's five different versions of the same core game. BlazBlue Continuum Shift seems to be merely following in its footsteps. Surprising? Not quite.

I'd definitely count Assassin's Creed as a surprisingly "milked" franchise. Seeing how it originally began as Ubisoft's flagship franchise and then gained momentum with the sequel, I was expecting them to handle the series with more care but think the lure of making yearly money out of it got the better of them. Oh well.

I think most of the franchises have already been mentioned so there is nothing of note to add here.

I might however add that Persona 4 although not technically this gen surprised me with how it's being milked. Atlus isn't one to milk but then P4 might be their biggest commercial success which is why we're seeing the obligatory Vita port(like Persona 3 got) along with a manga and an anime, novels,a theater adaptation and the upcoming Arc Systems-developed console fighter. Milking alright which has led to many P4 fans labelling 2012 as "Year of Persona". Hopefully that includes a P5 announcement as well. :P

Good to see people here have a better taste than I gave them credit for. Both are overrated games but only one of them is awful--Fallout 3.

Oblivion is better largely because it still has a world that is way more fun to explore than Fallout 3 does. I mean c'mon we play Bethesda's games for exploring their large-scale open-worlds. None of us play it for the "quality" of quests or making tough role-playing decisions that have visible impact on your game. No,we don't.

So in that terms Oblivion is leap and bounds better than Fallout 3.

Although all of them are inferior to New Vegas. Sorry that just needed to be said. :P

My thoughts from the beta weekend was that is is a standard-fare MMO at its core.

Sure it has a couple of interesting main features particularly that its a lot more story-oriented and focuses on party NPC interaction much like many of BioWare's own titles.

The clas-ses were interesting enough but I found out that the slightly different abilities and plays-tyles of classes like Bounty Hunter didn't count for much in massively crowded areas because it basically boiled down to spamming your abilities then...much like every other MMO I know.

Another positive I found was that the game did feel pretty polished and relatively lag-free even in large PvE areas despite it being in a late beta stage. MMOs generally have massive lag even during their early release days. So I think BioWare's done a decent job.

I don't think The Old Republic is going to change anyone's opinion on MMOs as many of us first thought. It might interest some of the BioWare fans to spend some time but for those of us who find MMOs boring and repetitive beyond 2-3 hours, the combat is going to get old fast.

It might give WoW a good competition though considering Star Wars will always draw hordes of people from all around...even today.Hm.

Disappointing. STALKER was a pretty good game and they could've really done better if they'd been given the chance with STALKER2. Guess that's not happening any more. :(
