D'oh.This should go in the recommendation thread, but... what the hell.
Go with Burnout 3: Takedown. It's easily the height of the series. Holds up incredibly well. Paradise's open world was cool, but doesn't even begin to compare to Takedown's excellence and brilliance. Takedowns are the best thing to happen to the series. Crash mode is great, too -- practically its own game. It's Burnout and its purest and finest.

Hmmmmm, Go with Paradise. Autolog is awesome.LulekaniWait, Autolog? I suppose I should mention that I am one of the like 50 owners of Need for Speed: Most Wanted U. I know it's made by the same developer, but I thought Paradise was still supposed to feel significantly more Burnout-like than NFS:MWU. Is it perhaps something in between Takedown and MWU? Does me owning MWU make it even more logical for me to get Takedown over Paradise? I'll only need a few more opinions before this thread can fade into obscurity c_rake. :)
You're limiting your options to the Burnout Universe ? Why ?LulekaniBecause I specifically want a game from the franchise. PGR or others are games I may decide to get at some point, but I specifically want "the best" game from the Burnout franchise.
What should it be? Please don't preach to me that I should get them all. Just tell me which is the absolute best one for a person who will only ever play one of the games. I'm leaning towards Paradise, if not Burnout 3. Thank you for the responses.
EDIT: Decided to go with Burnout 3. Thanks guys!
Can you list real examples, because I remember "back in the day" we had these things called "expansion packs" and they still cost money, and DLC and expansion packs both spring from the same vein of thought. Back then though, since they also relied still on retail releases, the expansion packs had to be relatively very large, but would cost more due to development of such a large expansion, and cost of distribution. Also, back then there were crappy expansion packs, just like there is crappy DLC today.Back in the day, DLC were free, offered a lot of good quality hours of great content and were a appreciation from the developers to gamers that purchased their game at the full retail price to extend their game further.
I enjoyed those days.
Today's DLC? Abomination is just about the only word that I can think of. The rest of it will probably be a very long personal blog of hate towards it. ;)

I've played both the FoM demo and the R3 demo, and I enjoyed both, though I liked the R3 one more, though I wasn't overly enamored with either. The popular consensus seems to be that R3 was the best, and it certainly seems like the one I'd enjoy most, though I'm not a big of the FPS genre in general. So even though it'd only be roughly $18 extra, a lot of me feels very hesitant in buying an FPS trilogy, especially when I already have an immense backlog of games. The downside is I could really love R3 and then I could want the first two games and it would end up costing me more, especially since I feel less sure this trilogy will follow suit with other PS3 compilations (R&C, Sly, etc.) and eventually go down in price.
So, essentially, would I be missing much by skipping the first two games? Are the stories anything worth caring about? Are they thrilling? Are they not only worth my money, but also, more importantly and scarely, are they worth my time? Thank you.
I meant any Monkey Island game. They're not all prefixed by "The Secret of" :PI believe it actually was Secret Of Monkey Island. ;)

Mine wasn't for PC. Here's a shot of it.
Scooby-Doo Mysteries for Genesis (different than the SNES version). Anyone else ever play this one? Also, what was your first? :)
