@Lord_Sesshy: But it is more varied, you even get JRPG and waky japanease game which is more than half of what I play. I find shooter and realistic racing game to be boring quite fast.
@Sindroid: I'm glad it was free with my consol otherwise I wouldn't paid for this game. It is cool and well made but it didn't have the effect so many people said. it was such a big thing when it came out in 2013 I think.
@lostn: But all FF are corridor simulator. They just never had the mean to do it until FFX. If you check every old FF, you never have any other choice but go to the next place, you have nothing to explore until very late in the games when you put your hands on the airship.
Also about FF7, it is just some rumors. If they stick to the original story it wouldn't make any sense to take a 4h long corridor fest into a 40h minimum game ... They would have to at least get to Aerith death. And if so ... they'll have a lot of assets to speed up the process of part 2 and 3 at that time since the world would be already there.
@Lightposte: Final Fantasy XII share the same map and world as Final Fantasy Tactics.
To me it wasn't a problem because I already saw that the game was linear but they now had the mean to make us walk throught various road between cities or important places just like it would be in real world. Because when you play FFVII and finally you are outside Midgar ... you can only go to two places ... Kalm and the Chocobo Ranch.
Also there is nothing to explore on the world map until you put your hand on the airship so I see ne reason to not go straight to the next destination. Secrets and stuff only happen very late in those games. Even in FFVI that gve us the Airship very early in the game has nothing to explore. Theres is some secrets and stuff to get once you get the Airship back in the Apocalypse world.
I hated XII because of the lack of story ( worst than XV because at least they had a movie for the lack or story in the game ).
As for FFVII remake I guess there will be 3 games at least and in the same type of feel as FFXIII saga. The first will be super linear. The second will have somewhat of freedom and the 3rd one will be open.
