@ExplicitMike THIS. There's not a lot of good PC development going on in Japan, and fighting games on the PC are rare the world over. Better not to do it than to muck it up and damage the brand.

@chikahiro94 I'm glad you brought up budget. How many developers/publishers are going to be able to afford to make games that look substantially better on the next generation of platforms. I almost expect the next gen to be the exact same texture/effects quality, but just everything running at 60FPS. Unless something changes, we're at the limit of what is financially viable for 90% of the industry.

@mike12431 I don't know how ANYONE could call Activision all that evil. Yeah they got a blowhard for a CEO and they milk their franchises, but they don't lock content on disc, and they don't cut off online for a game one year after release. I can still play Call of Duty 2 or Call of Duty 3 on the 360 or PS3. More than I can say for EA MMA.

And this right here is why I don't do digital distribution for more than $10 anymore, and why I don't buy games for multiplayer. They can't take away my single player games on disc.

I think there'll always be tabloid outliers who live on fear and fabrication, but the good thing is that, more and more, non-gamers are rolling their eyes and moving along, leaving only the core tabloid fanbase (mindless gossips) to be poisoned by this idiocy. The broader issue with news is that it's increasingly trending toward the negative. People just don't WANT to read good news, or at least that's the conventional wisdom these days. Combine that with the 24-hour networks and the blogosphere creating a "news as entertainment" ecosystem, I don't see game bashing letting up any time soon.

@supa_stud I'm with you, bro. I've never bought any DLC, never will, and have never felt short-changed by a game.Nickel-and-dime DLC in particular adds nothing, at all, no matter what the publishers say, and I've never felt bad in not having it. @devodevin - You're onto something. A lot of gamers are horribly OCD and just HAVE to have everything that gets made, and it's hideous to see Capcom and EA preying on that. Gamers need to realize that, for the most part, DLC isn't necessary to have fun with a game, and stop buying it.

Let's see, insignificant indie devs make asses of themselves, Assassin's Creed creative director makes excuses for his own creative bankruptcy, and the Walking Lie leaves MS. Oh, and mobile phone shill claims consoles are dead. Really, the only person in the whole thing that didn't piss me off was Inafune.

@Lhomity - The difference is that EA has a history of going back on their word in all manners. They haven't figured out that they can't apply the same strong-arm tactics and outright lies outside of their Madden players.

@MasterTheHero - The hilarious thing is that it's having the exact opposite effect. Activition keeps putting out games, especially Call of Duty, they clearly outline their DLC plans, the multiplayer suite is no way adversely affected if you don't buy the map packs, and they don't try to screw consumers over. In short, say what you will about Activision being risk-averse, they at least run a mostly honest business, something EA seems incapable of.
