Sigh, I really tried, I've been watching half of this vid now, hoping that some of the old Gamespot 'fun' would return, but this is just two guys, milking the hell out of every single 'joke' they come up with, while less than 20% of them is actually even close to being slightly funny. It's like watching these two guys watching Game Of Thrones and just talking and stupidly laughing without reason through the entire thing. I'm sorry, but seriously, learn the difference between making some actual good jokes and just annoying the crap out of people.
I literally had to repeat that RUN part 16 times and I saved Theresa 15 of those attempts, including my final one. But of course Mr. Platformer and Nintendo thinks it's impossible...
Gamespot, you guys are game reviewers right? So could you please do us all a big favor and stop whining about every single game's story like you guys are masterminds when it comes to storytelling? Why not make a thread on this crappy site and show us what amazing stories you can figure out and how it's supposedly done? Seriously, it might not be a super story, but... Mediocre and mostly doesn't tread on any new ground? You know how difficult that has become these days, with so many movies, books, games and everything having done SO much already, but yet you guys still keep acting like you are of the belief it's the easiest thing ever. So, like I said, for once show us an example of what is supposedly a good story in your opinion, or stop whining about story-arcs of games, because you guys even complain about story and dialogue in games that DO have great story and dialogue, but YOU guys just can't appreciate it, or seem to have made up your minds before even taking the time to see differently.
So, if you're such story geniuses, I'm waiting, show me this new groundbreaking amazing story that you guys can come up with.
Barebones melee mechanics? Seriously Peter Brown, if you're going to complain about something insignificant, at least have the decency to say it in a normal way, and not in a way that basically screams: "Oh please, people give me attention! Am I still a good reviewer? Please, someone?"
I mean, it's not bad enough that you seem to think with EVERY game that you know better than anyone what a good story is, what good characters are and all that, no, you have to start bitching about these things too?
Also, like I have said before, and a problem that you don't seem to realize at all, games do NOT have to be super hard, or SUPER complex, to be fun, nor is it BAD to have something not mega efficient or... I don't even know what the counter should be to this barebones melee BS you came with. Especially if you first say that it's complex and thrilling combat anyway, I feel like that barebones comment makes even less sense.
Oh, and by the way, that you can only seriously talk about actual character development being good, and all that, when a game is from Nintendo or Sony, is REALLY becoming overly suspicious dude.
Haven't run into any technical issues, at all, neither have the four other friends of mine that got the game, so you guys must be doing something wrong then for having those.
And I'm going to stick with what I have said time and time before, you guys are game reviewers, not story reviewers, and I'd really think it would be better for everyone if you guys stopped acting like you know so well what a good story is, or what good pacing is, like seriously... Just bad points for the sake of having them, which is ALWAYS bad story and writing.
Personally I really like the pacing so far, and the story and writing are definitely not that shallow. I thuoght I would like the game, but it's definitely surprised me, in a good way, also with the story thusfar, so again, if you guys think it's that bad, put up an example of how you would have done it, or stop complaining about things you obviously know nothing about.
I do hope this helped other people out there, because I'd really recommend it, especially if you have friends that get it as well.
Minor online performance issues... Wow, yeah, REALLY a big deal that you have to point out, seriously, you guys really HAVE to have something negative to say huh? Otherwise it'll make you guys feel bad yourselves or something?
I'm not even going to say too much about the narrative, apart from what I've said over and over again, which you prove especially with a game like this, which is a racing game. You guys ALWAYS have complaints about narrative, why? Becaus3e somehow you always keep thinking you're experts on that, instead of just games?
Seriously, the most normal thing for games these days, especially the ones that try something new-ish, have long loading times, but you guys REALLY HAVE to put in more than two bad things always and forever, unless it's some weird ass game where you just come up with even more random stuff. There is not aking these reviews serioously, because the things you complain about, aret he most simplistic things ever, that SO many games still suffer from, and yet you talk about it with reviews like this, like it's the only game that ever does so, like Deus Ex, or Witcher, or games like that don't have freaking long loading times... Seriously Gamespot, WHY is a game these days either a 6, or just crap, or you give them ultimate reviews? Where is looking objectively at it, because honestly, more and more of these things just read like you have made your decision of what you think of it WAAAY before, if it's an independent reviewer, or not, seriously...
