His new computer freezes up, it stutters at first, letting him move his mouse every few seconds then just freezes, he then hits the restart button and it is fine, I'm a bit lost as to what it could be.

Is there a way to get a Wii (Composite) to a macbook pro (Mini Display Port version) for someone who shares a TV with other people. I'm guessing the in part to a laptop is the hardest part and there will be need of a program as the middle man. Can Quicktime do this? Also of course the hardware. Let me know!

Hey all,

I'm debating whether i should get a second 6870, which I know would be more powerful, or a single gtx 570 and not deal with the potential crossfire problems. Weigh in and let me know what you think!

Also I'd sell my 6870 in my computer now to put towards the 570.

If you can wait till this fall I would, there are rumors that the first batch of new cards are coming out sooner than later, which would drop the 560 ti into your price range or maybe even a 6970 or 570 if you are hunting ebay.

Best Buy is overpriced when it comes to graphics cards, but ok when it comes to psus and they do have the GS series for corsair so like the GS600 would be fine for really anything. Microcenter and Newegg.com and possibly frys are the 3 main providers in the US for computer parts. I would look there to see what they have on sale. If you are looking at newegg, look at the 6870 there are a few of those that are about the same price as the 6850 and it is a step up in performance. If you are looking at Nvidia look for the GTX 560, there are two kinds of these the more expensive one is GTX 560 Ti but it does cost more and most people would say to move to AMD's 6950 1gb at that poin.t

Brands for AMD are Sapphire, HIS, XTX, Gigabyte, Asus. If you go Nvidia EVGA, MSI, Asus, Gigabyte. Those are really the "favorites" and you cant really go wrong witha ny of them, some have better fans and some have better warranty's but you will probably have to look into that on a card by card basis.

I know thats a lot of information, but hopefully it'll be of some help.

A very simple thing to do is to replace the gpu and the 6850 that was mentioned above is a great choice. If you want to replace your power supply (psu) as well you could throw in whatever you want. Replacing the psu is not very difficult and there is a possibility the warranty would still cover everything in the computer except the psu and new gpu, which is always nice.

Look at microcenter if there's one in your area/if you are in the states and can order online, they have some of the best deals for cpu/motherboard combo. If you buy them together you save a bunch of money. They have a deal where the 975 plus a mobo saves you 70 and the cpu is 170 to begin with so its 100 for a 3.5ghz phenom 2. If the deal applies to a 955 or 965 you'll be rolling in even more savings.

GTX 570 and the i5 2500k look good to me. I'm looking on nvida site right now and I'm comparing the 480 to the 570 and it looks like the 570 has a higher "relative graphics performance" and the 480 has a higher "standard memory config". Does this make a difference? Thanks. Sorry to be a pain.

LordsLoss
The 480 has more memory, but that really would never come into play unless you are splitting to multiple monitors for one game at huge resolutions. The 570 will still get you more power for gaming.

just get an i5 2500k, a 6970 or a 570, if you really want phsyx get the 570, and 4-8 gigs of ram, I could most likely make that build around 1k, so 300 saved.

M4Ntan
This, also add in a better cpu cooler so you can get full usage out of that 2500k. the Hyper 212+ is what I use and does not cost much. Other posters will have more experience on what some of the more expensive coolers are and how much they will change the overclock.
