Damn I didn't even know there was a ratchet and clank PS4 game. Is it worth purchasing?

Maybe it's my age, but this gem feels different from the past, especially compared to the PS2/GCN/Xbox generation. It feels like this gen hasn't hit its stride, hasn't peaked, and isn't prducing the excitement for me of last gens. For me there hasn't been a killer game, a system seller, like Halo, Zelda, or a new franchise that blows my mind. Games feel incomplete. I'm not saying they're bad this gen, just not mind blowing to me. Before this gen has even come into its own we are already getting updated consoles, which feels wrong. I haven't been hyped by any game, haven't spent time researching, feeling anticipation, or discussing an upcoming title. There hasn't been a game that I can use to convince my friends to buy a new console.

Did gamestop not have a midnight launch for CoDAW? I drove by earlier, about 10:30, and no one was there, it was closed.

I'm just disappointed bc I have good memories of the PS2/360 launch. Seems dumb but the nostalgia I get from those epic launches was something I expected this time around.

I'm a bit surprised. Judging by the comments on here and other gaming forums I expected the PS4 to pretty much dominate the launch window.

I went by 3 gamestops, 2 walmarts, a sears, and a best buy, to ask about getting a ps4 tonight. As expected they were out if preorders but they all had plenty of PS4s to sell to non pre order buyers. I asked about the Xbox One pre-orders and apparently the demand is higher for the X1.

I drove by the same stores a few minutes ago and the only place with ANYONE waiting in line was best buy, with less than 10 people. I saw no one at any of the three gamestops I went to even tho they were having launch events.

Not impressed at all. I expected a lot of launch excitement and fever, but no one seemed to care..

The UI capabilities are really starting to sway me. I don't care about kinect for games, but the voice control, recognition, etc is pretty appealing.

@bbkkristian:

Blockbuster games like CoD are great for the industry. The series alone generates billions of dollars for activision, allowing it to cover the development costs and reduce the financial risks of other less financially lucrative games. Plus it sells consoles.

I'm pumped and it's been a while since I've been involved in regular gaming.

This gen was great, the best IMO. The games, the graphics, the genres, everything was improved on substantially. We had many new landmark franchises introduced that quickly became household names.

Online was redefined, especially with xbox live. It's the first time game consoles actually became all inclusive entertainment hubs, surpassing PCs in that area as well.

Gaming also made huge strides in pop culture. Now it's unusual to not play games or own a system. It's basically expected. I'm sure it's due in large part to our generation growing up and into them, but it's a big chafe from even the PS2 xbox era.

The xbox one UI vid was pretty sweet. I think if they showed that at e3 and avoided the whole DRM fiasco from the start they'd have much more momentum going into launch. I'm still undecided on which I'm getting but if I can actually see myself using the one for a lot of things outside gaming.

One question tho, can I have my DirectTV plugged into an xbox one and have the video feed played as one of the window panes in the UI? Or was the "TV" they were watching just some xbox app?

Why would a huge company with a massive budget for the game skimp on a cutscene? It was most likely a "shout out" to the original team, not a cheap tactic. It just doesn't make sense.
