@Lucasdxx ... I thoroughly agree with everything you've said here. Apart from my (slightly mis-judged) moan about dated graphics below, I can't really find any fault with this game and am enjoying it immensely. I really appreciate the gently guided nature of its adductive open-worldedness, and gameplay is fluid and fun - certainly a lot more so than Far Cry 2. Not sure if it's personally my GOTY (I've played some great games this year and still yet to start rated games like Dishonored and Sleeping Dogs) but it sure is a great experience.

I got this game free with a new HD7850 graphics card and I really didn't think I'd be bothered as I'm a bit fed up of time-consuming open-world games, but I'm surprised at how much addictive fun it is... However, what also surprises me is the graphics - i thought this game was going to be the photorealstic Next Big Thing but it is really quite disappointing. I've got pretty much everything on ultra and I think it looks quite poor - low poly modelling, poor textures, and whats with the strange flattening ambient lighting? I have to switch my HDTV's mode from Game to Vivid to make it look less flat and drab.... I've been playing RAGE recently and that looks fantastic compared to this (I don't get any of the texture pop-in that people moaned about in that as I have a decent SSD). I guess it is easier to pull off a mostly-manmade post-apocalyptic environment than a lush tropical island, but this feels like a step back from 5 year old Crysis!

I have been meaning to play the original since I picked it up on Gog a few years back, but never got round to it and now don't play that sort of game any more since connecting my gaming PC to my TV and only playing gamepad-enabled games. I was contemplating getting this for my iPad, but I've read that there are further issues with that as regards the UI and controlling characters.... Oh well, I'm quite happy exploring Avadon by Spiderweb Software anyway, an accessibly streamlined but fairly deep and engrossing modern take on classic RPGs that plays great on the iPad - I heartily recommend it to disappointed Baldurs Gate fans.

Also also, I checked out the Kickstarter page, and found myself weeping with laughter and joyful expectation. I just wish I could spare them $1000 as the reward is b-ballingly brilliant...

Also, what a great interview - one of the best articles I've read on Gamespot in a long time. I love that there are people like this making games like this, and that lots of other people love it too...

I dislike JRPGs, I have no interest in basketball and am increasingly bored of retro-gaming fetishism, but I have to say this is one of the most enjoyable games I've played this year. I was so entertained from the outset I played it through to completion in one sitting. Hilarious and surprisingly quite moving... I wholeheartedly gave it a 10 out of 10, as, apart from its sheer mash-up entertainment value, it's actually a great game!

I bought the first 4 AC games recently on PC separately for £30 total (about $50). Judging by the poor user reviews for AC3, I think I'll wait a year or so and then I pick it up for a tenner in a Steam sale with all its ripoff DLC included. I don't like piracy but I will never pay Ubisoft's top dollar prices, especially when they rip out content and flog it off as overpriced DLC - e.g. The Lost Archive, which should've been part of the man Revelations game, is still £7.99 in the Ubishop. Anyway, I'm being so cheap because I'm saving up for a lifesize plastic Connor statue... Only £1,999 in the Ubishop!
