@zero_6666 Call that an English accent? I call it a mid-Atlantic accent of someone who's spent too much time in Hollywood. And very annoying it is too.

Hmmm.... someone's watched the trailer for Prometheus a bit too many times and decided to 'pay homage' to its pounding music in their own trailer...

@thunderboltx7 @JimmeyBurrows @thunderboltx7 @JimmeyBurrows Reducing the HDD to 40gb wouldn't save any money, in fact it might cost more as I couldn't imagine any HDD manufacturers would still be making such a small capacity so it would probably need to be a special order. I reckon that they'll remove the ability to change the hard drive yourself.

I reckon all they'll do is shrink the case and components, optimise the board layout and make it more energy efficient. They'll probably dump the optical audio port and remove the ability to change the hard drive yourself. They won't reduce the hard drive capacity, as I doubt any HDD manufacturers would still be making any much smaller than 160gb any more, and such items would have to be on a special order. Unless they use a solid state drive to make it even faster, quieter, energy efficient and smaller. Now that I would like to see! I really think it would quite a radical departure and possibly be a bold and bad business move to dump the Blu-Ray and make this third iteration of their third generation console digital-download only, but it would be really interesting to see, as they could probably make it as small and quiet as a PS2 Slim, and reduce the price considerably. It would also test the water for future developments in that regard. Personally I'm against it, but I'm certain that optical media will eventually die.

@001011000101101 "I'm seriously considering giving up gaming when this generation of consoles reaches the end. It all just seems so pointless, and while I am having fun while it lasts, many of today's games really do feel like a waste of time."

God, I so relate to this. Life is passing me by as I stare at a screen consuming other people's creativity whilst mine goes stale, whithers and dies... But it's soooo hard to give up a hobby and a habit you've had since the early 1980s, especially as games are soooooo good these days, no matter what every other gaming old timer says about the golden age of gaming.

I think my problem is that I just can't resist Steam, GOG and retail store sales, as well as Humble Bundles and Playstation Plus downloadable freebies - and they are all piling up waiting to be played. Check out my Wishlist, which is actually a list of 47 games I own and haven't yet started... On top of the dozen or so I'm currently playing, and not including all the games currently on my iPad.

No matter how much I enjoy an individual game, this hobby is starting to feel like work, and particularly pointless work to boot...

@Tayzi @Witchsight @Incubus420 Actually, I did buy a PS3 for this game. Like I bought a PS2 for Ico and SotC. I got the PS3 in October 2010 in anticipation of this being released before Xmas that year as originally stated, and because I wanted a decent Blu-Ray player. I was quite upset when it didn't materialise then, and even more so when it was put back from its 2011 release. More fool me I guess. Oh well, at least I've enjoyed my Blu-Rays... And a dozen or so brilliant PS3 exclusives, including the Ico/SotC HD re-release.

@ghoward79 I think you find that the opposite usually applies. Well it certainly has in the UK, where (for example) public transport costs have skyrocketed since privatisation and deregulation, even though the private companies running them get more in taxpayer subsidy than the nationalised industries ever did (and that's with inflation adjusted figures). The same has happened with utilities, is happening with the health service and other public services now run by corporations, and will happen with education. Don't believe the fallacy of deregulation - it's a capitalist myth and leads to much abuse - just look at what the banking industry has achieved since deregulation.

This more than makes up for the cancellation of the STALKER series and the lack of interest I had in William Gibson's last few novels. I think I'll just re-read Neuromancer again while I'm waiting. Oh, and maybe get round to playing Deus Ex Human Revolutions... or Gemini Rue.

I enjoyed the first Risen, but this looks a bit too *piratey* for my liking. As another commenter said, the lore and atmosphere of Risen were key, and if this game has gone off at a tangent, then I may not bother. Mind you, that's not to say it couldn't be fun in its own right. Maybe later, once I've slogged my way through the 50 odd games on my To Do list...

Home taping is killing the music industry. And it's illegal.Hmmmm... I seem to have wandered into the wrong decade. The same bullsh*t though. Except that was arguably understandable (but unfounded) concerns about product piracy destroying music, whereas this is just grubby moneygrabbing by multinational corporations trying to control every aspect of their IP to the detriment of their customers and eventually their profits.I predict a huge resurgence in PC gaming (including greater development of under-the-TV media centre PCs for gaming) and growing support for independent DRM-free developers.
