[QUOTE="Ultratechfan"]It is absolutely impossible to get Kinect in the States, Im currently on craigslist looking at someone posting this Kinect for 185 and im thinking about calling. I called about 8 gamestops, 8 targets, you name it, nowhere to be found. IS this intentional by Microsoft to get people to buy the bundles? It seems odd to me that this item is absolutely impossible to buy at retail price.Dire_Weasel

Absolutely false. Again, I was just in Target, they still have shelves full of them... just like every other big box store in the Chicago area.

Nice try, though. Also, why the heck would you want one? Got a big itch to play Joyride, or something?

nice try, I'm not saying that your lying, but I just did a stock check at local Chicago stores, and they're all sold out. I used the zip code 60607http://www.target.com/gp/store-info/find-target-store.html?asin=B002BSA298

Kinect sells 2.5 Million in first 25 days, 2million of which are probably in America alone.

dethroned3

2.5 million is 2.5 million, Why does it matter where its sold?

If Playstation Move is selling so well, why don't have one game in the top 50 on Amazon sells chart?

How impressed I am by these results depends on afew things.

A.) If it's sold to consumers or to retailers (Usually we find it's the second one on any form of software or hardware no matter the company) as 2.5 million to retailers would put it well below MS expectations as they place stalk orders2-3 weeks in advance and thus would only expect to sell that many by the week before christmas.

B.) Correlating expansion of software and hardware. Has it pushed units or even passed the marketing expanse.

C.) Has this made ajor developers decide to utilise this accersory as a main game devloping tool of a high budget game.

On a positive note despite my current 'Meh' approach to the kinect it has became a above average peripheral/accesory in terms of sales behind only the N64 Rumble and Expansion packs, Wii motion plus, Mario Kart Wii wheel, Rckband peripherals, Wii Fit board etc etc. Very few of those are expensive as the Kinect which is a positive for it.

MattDistillery

WHAT??? How is this above average and its only been out less then a month.

[QUOTE="kenmid"]

actually, we don't know how there spending 500m, it could be over year, it could be over 10 years, we don't know. And I don't know what Tesco is.

AnnoyedDragon

You're right about the first part, still doesn't change it is a ridiculous sum of money; that could have gone to actual games. In regard to the second part; Tesco is a big UK retailer, think our Wallmart.

you're right, it's a ridiculous sume of money, I was just saying I don't see that much advertiment.

Can you honestly said that you see that many Kinect commericals? the only ones I really see is the Burger King commerical, I see more Move commericals then I see Kincent.

AnnoyedDragon

I've seen plenty of kinect commercials, including trial systems in the super markets like Tesco.

Regardless, we know they spend $500m just in advertising.

After spending $500 million on convincing people to buy that gimmick, it would be embarrassing if it didn't sell millions.
